Help identify this leak

I have a 2015 BMW M235i that I have owned for about 6 months. I decided to take off the plastic engine cover to estimate how hard the spark plug change would be, as I would have to do that soon. That's when i saw this mess. Any idea what is causing this leak? Its slightly damp and i cant see any pooling. Any help is appreciated!

Try posting into the f30 forums, much more traffic.

As for spark plug change, did it for the first time myself a few months back. As long as you have the right tools it's not difficult whatsoever.

I’m ignorant, but it looks as though the oil has been atomized. Ran the engine with an unseated spark plug...

I’m sure a tech can figure this out in a second.

That does look like a fuel rail. And it’s cooler due to high pressure fuel so maybe the oil pools there.
