Refinish Carbon Fiber?

So I just bought some carbon fiber mirror covers from China off amazon, (I know, I shouldn't have been cheap ) and one of the mirrors appears to have some fading/imperfections. See attached pic. Anyone know the best way to get this out? I have seen on YouTube to sand it and refinish but I am not sure if this is too deep to sand? Any ideas would be appreciated as shipping these back to China is not an option. Worst comes to worst I will buy some US made ones if I screw this up beyond repair.

Looks like water spots under the clear coat on the surface of the epoxy, WD40 will remove water spots on the epoxy resin / carbon matrix, but the clear coat may get in the way of it being easily absorbed into the surface.

What grounds do you have to believe that this is actually carbon fiber?
You gets what you pays for!

Ahaha I have no idea, probably going to buy some OEM replacements and bite the bullet on price if I can't get this looking right

So you suggest I sand it down and then try to remove with WD-40? Sorry I'm not too familiar with carbon fiber.

It may be possible, but if it is real carbon fibre underneath, then it may be best to carefully remove only the clear coat, polish the resin surface with 2000 then 8000 grit wet and dry paper and leave it in a natural state. Once you use WD40 or similar on the natural composite, clear coat may no longer adhere properly.

On "you get what you pay for": If this was always the case, the good looking gal at the Porsche dealer close to my house didn't offer a nice bj when she said the Cayman GT4 had $10k markup
