Oil change frequency
This topic has probably been beaten to death but majority of the forums or bob the oil guy all the intervals I see is for miles. I just changed my own oil at 7k miles with the recommended 0w20 since the I couldn't find the big bottles for the 5w30. My question is for those that take a long time to reach any type of mileage intervals (I work from home or travel for work) and a year would probably pass by before I reach any type of mileage. Do you guys change under a year, 6 months or whatever you think would be best?
Right now if I don't travel for work I probably clock in about 10 miles a day to and from the gym. I uber to the airport for work and I Uber if I go anywhere on the weekends. I'm estimating around 4-5k a year put on my car even with forced spirited drives. |

While under warranty, BMW would change your oil once per year if your mileage was too low to trigger the CBS oil change. We averaged ~7k miles /year in the 328iX.

I recommend that the oil in any turbo’d engine be changed at 5k miles. The turbo is lubed by the engine oil and turbos are hard on oil. I buy LiquiMoly 5w30 4200 tech oil with the API designation “SN.” “S” means “spark ignition” (gas engine), and the “N” means it has the special additive for turbos.
