I'm still throwing a 12" in the trunk, however. |

I finally got around to do this and set it to F45... interesting for sure. I wish someone with some measuring devices could run some tests through these. F45 sounds cleaner but I can definitely hear some missing mids. I have ghost replacement woofers and this definitely hits them harder.

I tried the F45 EQ setting on my F87.
I already had a small powered sub in my trunk along with the coaxial JLs in the rear which gave me plenty of satisfaction over the stock system. Now with this F45 EQ, the whole system is way too boomy, the bass basically muddies everything. Way too much boost below 100hz imo. I might play with the settings a little to see if I can find a setting I like, but will most likely set it back to F87. I can imagine it being better for stock systems though. Nice find btw. |

So I’ve rolled back to the F87 (new F22) settings.
Immediately noticed the subdued bass, and highs seemed slightly brighter. With the sub in the trunk, it is much easier to control bass with this setting and it hits much tighter with a little adjustment. It was an interesting experiment playing with the EQ coding but I’m most happy with the default setting. |

I tried the f45 settings on my m235i today. Shocking how much better the entire system sounds. 100% improvement. Car should have come from the factory this way.
Also, make sure you update your integration level with ISTA & Icom. I had factory 2014 coding and initially I was unable to see the different EQ settings in bimmercode expert mode. |

I have the rear JL coaxials and a small powered sub in the trunk and the F45 setting was almost unbearable due to the bass overtaking/muddying the sound. Have you tried the F87/new F22? It was definitely an improvement for me with better clarity and flatter EQ curve |

WoW, I really wasn't expect much of a difference but you've discovered a real hidden gem here..
A lot more clarity, with more vibrant heights- F45 has my vote... BimmerCode - the gift that keeps on giving However, keep in mind guys, the F45 HK hardware and F22/87 are engineered differently (See below). It sounds subjectively better with the F45 coding because the it seems to have turned up the heights, in the front and rear speakers, a setting that's beneficial to a station wagon layout, like the F45 but I'm not sure it's properly optimized for the F22/87 chassis.. It need more seat time.. Hmm.. Decisions, decisions.. F45 vs F22/87 |

Very interested in this. I have a 2020 with the HK system. Seems like both F39 and F45 are recommended but mostly everyone says they're running F45? Does that one sound better or is it just the first one everyone tried? Thanks!

I have the Eton in the front and JL coax's in the rear. F45 REALLY opened up the entire system. the vocals sit in a space of their own -- seemingly in the middle of the dash instead of floating around between the driver and the passenger. The sound stage is much wider and spread out which helps in the overall stereo separation. The bass is much cleaner with greater overall presence. Flat EQ -- both bass and treble in the middle position and I feel like it sounds amazing compared to F22. Will report back on F39 shortly. E39 put the sound way more in the front than F45 -- as if everything was coming from the front dash. Quality of the sound was similar but sticking with F45 forsure. The ideal setting with F45 is to increase treble +1 and bass +2 and 20-30% fader to the rear. |

Can anyone with just the stock harmon kardon system please post their Trebble, bass, and fader settings for F45? It's not perfect with everything in the middle. Tried to tinker myself but it gets exhausting after a while. Would like to try a few settings that worked for others. Thanks!

F45 is definitely better than F22 New. Punchier bass and wider sound-stage.
I currently have the Tone/Fader controls set to +1 on treble, bass and rear. I'll leave it like this for a while and see how I like it... Thanks to the OP for sharing!
