On my way in to work this morning, passed a car in the right lane doing 67 in 40 in front of an officer. He never even looked my way. I do realize this will eventually end and most likely with me getting pulled over; but....cheap gas and officers not pulling people over, I'd be a fool not to enjoy it while I can.

Makes sense and that is what I suspected. I figured it's better not to drive like an asshat anyway because they don't want to have to interact with anyone and risk exposure. If I do end up getting pulled over it would probably be more than a warning because they would be mad for having to interact with me.

I think we have to define "driving like an asshat". Speeding on open road is still relatively dangerous and illegal but as long as you are not tailgating anyone, cutting people off, speeding in school or constructions zone, brake-checking ... you are not an asshat.

Although they may not be ticketing like normal, just keep in mind that if you DO miscalculate, or surprise someone who reacts stupidly, you end up in the same hospital, with the same people, that we are so diligently trying to avoid having contact with....

Been a few days since anyone posted in the encouraging news thread... So below is one of those cheesy forwarded emails from a co-worker that made me lol. Enjoy!

Some thoughts on the quarantine:
  • Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.
  • I used to spin toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe.
  • I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.
  • Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom
  • PSA: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
  • Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job.
  • I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone
  • This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot.
  • So, after this quarantine.....will the producers of My 600 Pound Life just find me or do I find them?
  • Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in business.
  • My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet.
  • Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat.
  • I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear?
  • I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to Puerto Backyarda. I'm getting tired of Los Livingroom.
  • Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun.
  • Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said "I hope I don't have the same teacher next year".... I'm offended.
  • Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under

Was just about to post about this. No serious clinical trial results yet, but there seems to be plenty of encouraging anecdotal evidence. If they can use this to improve recovery and reduce the mortality rate to a significant degree, it could be a serious game changer until a vaccine is found.

I said a month ago that weather could be a factor based on figures from cold countries vs hot countries and even cold states vs hot states. Folks were saying that places like Louisiana was getting bit hard and it’s warm. I think that could be due to people partying for Mardi Gras, not respecting social distancing, and overall diets down there (more fatty food or whatever that could lead to underlying problems). Also, if it’s true that African Americans were getting hit hard and there’s a large population there, that would contribute to the cause. Of course this is all speculation and we have reasons to believe it’s true. But we won’t know for sure until the numbers come out.

I’d love to think heat and humidity have a big impact. It’s already unbearably hot and humid here in South Florida.

Part of it is how are people doing. Florida was out partying until late March. It’ll be May before we’ll see the infection rate slow down in Florida (probably late May).

The people out partying were mostly spring breakers who went home to other states. But we did get an influx of New Yorkers when NY told people to stay home.
