Bumper guard removal
Hi all, I recently purchased a 2016 M235i. The car originated from the NYC area and the previous owner had what appear to be OEM bumper guards installed. While I can appreciate the utility they probably had for the original owner, I'm not in a situation where they will benefit me. I'm curious if anyone has any experience removing these.

If it's installed using 3M tape, which my guess is that it is, then running some fishing line underneath it should do the trick.
Once the strip is removed, try to rub off as much of the remaining adhesive residue on your bumper as you can using your fingers or an adhesive eraser wheel. Anything left should come right off using 3M general adhesive remover spray, or something similar. |

As mentioned, run fishing line to remove. The adhesive should be sprayed with Goo Gone and left for an hour or so to make removal way easier. If you don't let it soak, it'll be a b*tch to get the adhesive off and you'll wear down your fingers in the process.
BTW that is one ugly bumper guard! Get it off ASAP!! LOL |

3M makes a wheel that mounts in your drill - think power eraser to get gunk off.
