Exhaust flap rattle
Hi,
Seen a few threads on this. I've had an annoying rattle on the passenger side exhaust this past fortnight. Took it to a dealer as a brake service was due and they had a look at it. Seems the clip is broken, though the flap does still work. So, they said they can't just replace the clip, rather the whole back-end of the exhaust needs replacing! That's a £700 bill right there folks! I have an extended warranty, but they said it's not covered under warranty. I read that some dealers have replaced/fixed under warranty. Any thought on my options?.... |

Challenge this and take it to a different dealer. If the result is the same as the first, contact BMW directly.

My C clip was still present but rattling loudly on cold starts. I sprayed some dry graphite lube outside and inside the pipe near the valve and the rattle hasn't returned in ~1 month. The area is easily accessible. I've heard of their "fix" to replace the entire assembly in the past, which sounds ridiculous.
Every car is different but that may work. |

Thanks for the feedback.
The dealer have contacted the original dealer whom I purchased the car from. The issue is it's under AUC Warranty, but yes, i gonna kick up a fuss on this. Here's the offending part : Last edited by Vijayk; 10-18-2021 at 01:10 PM.. |
