Lost my 2er to a Hit & Run

Very thankful to have walked away from this accident unscathed, but very sad to see my BSM + Coral Red M235i go. I was driving home late Saturday night on a tight winding road when a car erratically changed lanes to overtake me and clipped my front end - sending my car off the road and into a 10 ft ditch/creek, where it rolled several times and rested on its roof.

The person who hit me did not stop, and to my knowledge has not been found.

Looking into a manual M240 or E36 M3 now. Will be a lifelong BMW owner!

Cheers all.

That is some truly awful news about your car but most important thing is you're safe and hopefully they catch that asshole

After a wreck of that magnitude, it's good to hear that you're okay!

I complain about the weight of our cars, but today a good deal of that added weight is what allows the car to keep you safe in an incident like this one.

Do you know yet if there's any likelihood the miscreant will be identified and then apprehended?

Absolutely, and thank you! I'm not sure of the likelihood but it has to be pretty low

I'm not always the kind of driver who should have a camera up and running next to his rear view mirror, but yours is the sort of circumstance that has caused me more than once to think that there are times when it would be a good idea.

Best of luck with a smooth insurance claim and everything else that goes along with a totaled car; it seems like that part should be pretty straightforward.

There's the 2 series' mystery mass at work. Car is in somewhat decent shape for being on its roof in a creek. Glad you are in one piece and thanks for sharing the pics.

Yeah, the car really looks pretty decent for all that happened to it. Really great that you were able to walk away after that.

It was surreal. I took a few seconds to make sure I could feel my limbs, and wasn't injured. Then as soon as I felt water and I immediately turned around and crawled towards the back.
