I plan on using them just for winter driving and putting the pilot super sports back on come spring. The main reason I got them is because they seemed like the best tire for performance driving at low temps, (don't plan on using them in snow storms since I have a old beater civic for that). I assume they'll last longer if just used in winter 🤞

Picked it up from North Haven auto today. They did a fantastic job repairing the rear. It was a costly (for the insurance company) $14k “fender bender.”

Couple of small annoyances I will follow up on tomorrow. They hooked back up the active sound design, which is bothersome enough on its own, but it also sounds like the wrong sound file, like an M4 lol... The car handles like the Dinan Shockware tune has been wiped but I’m not sure why that would be the case? The biggest issue is that the driver door doesn’t close unless I really give it some persuasion..

other than that…I mean it looks pretty darn good! Almost exactly how it was. Definitely needs some dialing in and I’m slightly disappointed it isn’t 100% after the long wait but I’m not going to lose sleep over it. It’s only metal. Happy to have it back in the garage.

Update: Shockware is still installed. I guess driving a 2300lb NA Miata for the last few weeks has changed my perception of the 2 series!

Those negatives sound very fixable, glad they were able to save the splitter too. Car looks good from here

The driver door behavior concerns me and I don't see the obvious explanation. The exterior sheet metal appears to have absorbed impact far rearward of the door opening. If the aperture had been moved forward in car, you'd likely see deformation around the window. I'm wondering about the floorpan. I'd have them check the alignment, specifically to see if the left rear wheel is in spec and also re-examine the floorpan once in the air.

Good point. I will recheck the itemized list of parts/repairs when I get home. They removed and replaced the entire rear quarter panel, and there appears to be evidence that the drivers door was removed and reinstalled as it no longer sits flush with the front fender when closed. Needless to say, some further attention is needed.

They look fine, but I hope you didn't use another set of Champion plugs.

Used it to remove the fur off the back (head, tail... Not entirely sure) of a raccoon.

Damn thing stepped out of a small median not much more than 30' in front of me at 40mph. I braked and swerved to avoid it and heard a very light thump. On the way home, I didn't see anything on the road so I think it managed to turn to avoid me smacking it in the head and it may have gotten away with just a haircut.

Did an oil change today, will be the last time I go with 0w-20. Will be going 5w-30 on the next and do plug and tune.

Just found out on the rear right side, I crossthreaded the SS line connection into the caliper... WIll need to redo that tomorrow and hope to god the thread isnt fucked and leak more fluid... Its currently a very minimal leak barely there kind of seeping out..

Dropped my car off at the dealer for first oil change. Loaner is a '21 330i. Full digital dash, big center screen, 4 banger turbo. No electronic suspension, so it's decidedly un-sporty in corners no matter what mode you choose, although you can rotate it.

I have to admit I am impressed! 250HP 295 TQ in the new 330i. It never feels fast, but hammer it, and you'll see 110-120MPH on the HUD very quickly. The 330i has a character so unlike the M240i... you never get a sensation of speed, so it's never exciting, but damn it gets up to speed quickly! I've driven BMW's and had 4-banger turbo BMW's as loaners many times, but this new iteration is a solid effort. I hate the steering wheel design, and the suspension needs to be much tighter, but otherwise this is a very nice car to drive. Not even in the same ballpark as the M240i in terms of fun, but the power on tap is impressive for a lower model BMW.

According to Car and Driver, the M340i is the sweet spot in the current 3 Series lineup (sort of like the M240i is in the 2 Series ): https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-maintenance/.

Dusted off the winters so I don't have to do it later. Probably as clean as they will get all year.

Hopefully another month or so before they need to go on.

Resized the pic really tiny to hide the flaws, haha.

My new-to-me F22 had a big week.

On Thursday I had the original PSS changed out for a set of Conti DWS06 Plus. The Michelins had tread left but the rears had some pretty deep cracks on the outside shoulders. Plus morning temps in east TN will be dropping soon and summer rubber won't be any fun. The way I drive I'm thinking these ought to be fine? Only a few tens of miles on them, so too soon to tell.

Today I did my first oil change on it. Good lord, this thing is low! I thought my GF's 335xi was bad. I ended up taking the XC out for a 2x10 so that I could cut it down as leaders for my rhino ramps. It felt like a sketchy thing to be doing but it got the job done. It also seemed less sketchy than lifting from a center cross member that's hidden by the belly pan. Before the next OC I'll probably add something rubbery to the bottom of the 2x10s to keep them from slipping on the garage floor. Or get different ramps like a smart person would. For oil I went with LiquiMoly Leichtlauf 5w-40 from FCP.

The next time I have to crawl under the XC is going to feel like cheating.

Not today but last few weeks!

Advan wheels
Vogtland springs
Front lip

Still have suspension parts to install, dial in some camber front and rear and get the fenders rolled!

Then I will stop for a little bit!

Installed a AA catted downpipe in the driveway yesterday. Much thanks to my gracious wifey for playing assistant!

Had the usual issues.. V-band had to be cut off. Thankfully I had a new one waiting.

Overall it wasn't a bad project for a driveway install. Maybe an hour and forty-five-minute job. I will say, have a spare V-band and go get a loaner exhaust pipe expander!

Cleaned and detailed the interior. After a summer of top down driving and a long drive with the grandkids, it was long overdue. Treated the dash and leather for UV protection, cleaned all the glass. Vacuum all the little crevasses. Smells so good again. Nice to have it so clean, but it was so nice out I had to drop the top and put some miles on when I was done.
