Installed the roof rack, got my camber adjusted, and installed the 3D carbon fiber lip today. Good day for car parts and mods, haha. [IMG][/IMG]

Quick off-topic: Had a good chuckle at your screen name. My wife named my Alpine White 330i Grand Touring as "Beluga", but she didn't mean it in a complimentary way!

I mounted Michelin PS4S 255/35-18 square summer tires on the car.

I also replaced a defective TPMS sensor and changed the LSD gear oil.

Sorry for the bad news, but you had the foresight to pick a very "matchable" color for the BMW certified bodyshop, as I learned with my Alpine White 3 Series at the identical corner of my car. It will be better soon!

That sure sucks. Lot's of idiots in the road.

Like SS said, it least the paint is easy to match. Won't ever know it happened when it's fixed, but what a PITA to take care of things like that.

Well, after 6.5 years; I said goodbye an hour ago to my M235 F23. She was a great lady. Should be in my new G29 M40 next week.

It just arrived and will collect tomorrow. More to follow on the G29 boards.

Washed and waxed, but didn't uncontaminate the paint and it shows

Needs a nice real detailing, but waxed it for now...

Thank you for the link! — my insurance company has me going to one of their certified shops which has stellar reviews, but now I’m wondering if I should inquire about having a BMW specific shop take care of it… then there’s also the fact I have a custom defuser.. will they have to return it to a stock m235i style or can I convince them to source the parts I already have on there? The bottom insert might be salvageable though — here’s hoping.

Inconvenient but nobody’s hurt so that is a victory.

The insurance company may indeed have a good shop, but you have the absolute right to take the car to any repair facility you wish. I would only use a BMW certified shop for adherence to OEM standards. I don't know to what standards or processes their shop is "certified". You should confirm that your policy and the estimate specifies that only OEM parts will be used and not anything "of like kind" or similar wording to indicate non-OEM.

I suspect you will be on your own with the diffuser as to the dollar payout by the insurance company, as the loss the insurance company protected was for the original car. If the values are equivalent from OEM stock diffuser to your aftermarket part you may be able to arrange this with the shop or add the difference yourself. Keep in mind, your insurance company should issue you a check for your loss, including any supplemental findings once the dissassembly occurs. You get to decide where to spend it, or not spend it at all if you did not do the repair. The point is that you can work with the shop to whatever result is agreeable, but you just have to pay them, presumably using the insurance company payoff plus your deductible.

Do you guys think it's worth paying for the MPE exhaust or should I just go with any aftermarket?

Oh no. That sucks.

#1, I hope you are OK. Cars can be replaced.

With that said, I hope you can get this sorted out sooner than later. You have put a ton of time into this car, so it is hard to see it like this.

Pains me and makes me want to leave my car at home....

Thank you for all the useful info. The estimate came to just shy of $9k ! North Haven auto body is taking care of it in a couple weeks and they have fantastic reviews — fixed my dads car a couple years ago and it looked like new. Most places are booked out until last week of September so I am very thankful they were able to prioritize mine.

I asked them if they will be using all OEM parts and I was assured that will be the case. The rear diffuser is salvageable so it will fortunately look the same when it’s done. Might have them do the front bumper at additional cost to me, just because it’s pretty beat up. Meanwhile, biking to work is exciting.

Oh man, sucks, but good news you have a solid body shop to sort it out.

If they're already painting (and getting that covered by insurance) could you make lemonade and escalate? Attaching rear fender flares is probably very little work compared to matching the paint...

Oof… haha I like the idea but I also feel lucky to have snuck in to get it fixed as it is.. what kind of flares are you suggesting? M235i racing style or something else? Practically, I’d rather get the front fenders sorted to fit 265 but that’s not in the cards right now— I’ve got a Wavetrac to pay for this winter.

Possibly bring them an MPerformance rear deck spoiler to attach to the new decklid?

Good call but I think I just want the color matched OE low profile one. I think that one comes stock, yeah? — Really dialing back the carbon fiber bits going forward.
