Full screen CarPlay and a bunch of other coding

CarPlay finally doesn't look half done - literally!

Manny at icodetoronto (IG). Great experience.

Good info, thank you. I’m not sure what mine was treated with before I bought it but it beads like crazy. I drove it 1,000 mi home in significant rain & I was very happy with the beading. I want to make sure I put something on it that keeps that happening.

Door lock actuator, driver side, replacement on '15 m235i ...fun times lol.

Here are a few photos as I didn't see any post of f2x models having this done.

Not a terribly involved repair but you must pay attention to detail when doing this.

Past 10 days, I took it on a 2400 mile road trip, to Deals Gap and spent a week there driving all those lovely twisty Smoky Mountain roads, then down to SpartanBurg SC, to attend 1 day M School at the BMW Performance Center. then back to NJ.

The car behaved wonderfully, all the suspension work paid off in the mountains.
Next upgrade will be brakes.

Flashed an M2 stage O+ map on my M235i. Very impressed with the extra pull at the top end and willingness of the engine to rev. Driveability is also improved like throttle inputs in all modes. Thoroughly impressed with BM3.

For me, the car is now perfect as a daily driver!! Should have done it much earlier

The M2 map pros and cons were discussed here:

Found some hitchhikers between all the radiators, working on cooling. Nice reminder the cars's left the track surface a few times...

The SCCA Reno Chapter held the Eastern Sierra Road Rally, part of the non-competitive SCCA Treks program. It was just shy of 100 miles, and the 230i looked great collecting bugs on the front bumper.

Nice route! It looks like the weather was nice, too.

How was the traffic – was there room to enjoy the road?

Every once in a while we'd run into an occasional car to pass when it's safe. There were a lot of us, but we spaced ourselves out well ahead of the twisty bits and organically self-organized into packs by how fast we were comfortable going in the straights on the way out there (just don't pass the lead vehicle, right?) Speeds were definitely a bit faster than the pedestrian travellers but I never felt or saw anything unsafe like you sometimes get with road rallies.

That sounds just like the event the BMWCCA's Buckeye Chapter sponsored in Ohio's Hocking Hills in 2019. Despite it being Sunday and there being a fair number of cars out, we were able to cruise along in pretty much the way you've described. I think events like these are well worth the effort to attend!

Replaced spark plugs at 47500 miles with NGK Iridium, with gap decreased to 0.22. Also ordered Millway TS bushing and Turner adjustable sway bar--will update with some pics when installing.

Took it in for the 7th annual oil change (I never reach mileage first). Also did the following:
  • Replaced trans fluid with Redline DCTF. So much smoother now! Complements the Rogue Short Shift Kit perfectly...such a joy to drive!
  • Tech checked for whine/status of N20 timing chain. No issues.
  • Signed up for BWM promotion of 3 oil changes for $199, starting today. Will re-up that deal starting in year 10 if they have it.
  • Extended warranty ends in August, so they gave it a once-over and all green checkmarks

I still feel as if I have a new car each time I drive it.

That's a very good deal, isn't it!

Mine feels that way, too, even though it's only three years old. Not driving it much helps with that.

Jealous of the SSK every time I hear about it. I missed the group buy and will forever regret it! Happy to hear about the DCTF fluid as well. I'm only about 15K into a new stock fluid replacement but will probably do it again when it's been 30K. Definitely going to do that 199$ deal too when I hit 50K. It'll pay for 3 oil changes at 10K intervals and I'll use an indy for 3 more at the 5Ks in between.

New BMW M Performance Floor Mats

Supposed to be for the F87 M2, but fit the M240i no problem. More subtle than the previous M Performance floor mat style.

Just picked up the same set. Of course the rear mats are about an inch too long for the F23, but not really noticeable unless you look under the seat.

These look pretty plush. Do they feel nicer than the OEM mats?

I replaced my original set MPSS's in the staggered configuration with a square set of 255/35/18 Yokohama Apex V601's on the 18x9et42 SSR Type-6's I bought from K8_m235i last year. SSR Type-C's were my favorite wheel growing up, so I'm over the moon with how great the meaty setup looks on the car.
