"special knowledge" to unlock locked from inside

Just picked up a '17 M240i X-drive and reading the owners manual it says:

"Locking from the outside
Do not lock the vehicle from the outside
with people inside the car, as the vehicle can‐
not be unlocked from inside without special
knowledge.◀"

Anyone know what the "special knowledge" is?

Note: a quick search didn't turn up anything..

If you have a US-spec vehicle, you can ignore that; the vehicle does not lock passengers inside, the double-pull handle unlocks the door(s).

There is a regional difference between specifically North American-spec vehicles and the rest of the world on how the locking system functions.

The US-spec vehicles programming errs on the side of safety and puts personal safety over possible vehicle theft.

I've verify that you're unable to lock anyone inside in a US-spec vehicle, by design.

Only outside of North America does the doors "deadlocks" a result of strick European auto anti-theft laws, which I assume where that disclaimer applies to.

After you pull the door handle the first time on a locked door and it doesn't work....just pull it again and bingo!

But when I lock doors with somebody inside and they touch anything (windows, door) the alarm goes off. My wife is more tolerant than I give her credit for sometimes.

Wasn't there something about the remote instructions that said if you hit the lock button twice, it disarms the internal alarm?

I had mine go off after reaching in my vert when armed. That was when locked with one push.
