2 series pricing speculation

I'm really liking the new 2. This is one very cool and sleek looking coupe.
Still, I like my quirky Bull dog stance '09 135i, it was/is a very unique looking coupe.

The new M235i sounds like it will be basically a replacement for the current
135is.

Here is something I found on the web today, and I haven't seen it posted here yet.
BTW, I LOVE the sedan render in this article. It looks better than my
2013 335i Msport.

I hope that pricing guess is right. They sound sure about it.
$40K as a starting price for a base M235i would be fantastic and very competitive with cars in it's size class, and especially with the coming of a new Mustang with IRS, and a new smaller Camaro based on the ATS platform.
At this price point BMW will be able to compete even if those other cars may cost a bit less even when loaded.

How is $40K a great base price point? That's pretty steep.
Car would be $50K by the time it's optioned out. This is not the M2.

This is no more car than my '10 135 was. A base model should be $36 at the most, $44 optioned out.

I hope the 2-series does look that good.

I wish people would stop creating new threads just to post up 6 months old renders that have been posted on here at least 20 times.

And by the way, the pricing of the M235 is being discussed in 3 of the top 5 threads of this forum. It's not going to be anywhere near 40k since the 135Is starts at 44K

Please take the time to read the other threads before posting.

And you even wrote "Please".
I'm not new these forum.
So no need for "the talk" papa.

Of the most current threads, only 2 are about pricing.
I wish people would quit posting on threads they feel the need to complain about. Don't like it? Move along to another thread.

Got it, the other 2 (only) threads about pricing were not enough so you had to create a third !!

Ok I'll be moving along now

I think you and I were in the same range a couple of months back...

IIRC, I was thinking that the M235 would start somewhere in the 45-47 range, and be around 50K with a few options. 55-60 with everything.

M2 will probably start right at 50 and top out at 55 or so. I am guessing they will use the 1M spec sheet as a guide and limit the amount of stuff you can get on it.

So you like a fast, comfortable, small coupe with all the trimmings? M235 and mid 50sK will get you out the door.

But if you want a raw, faster, less complicated coupe with fewer trimmings? M2 and mid 50sK will get you out of the door.

The two cars will have different purposes, and will be sought after different buyers. I still think they will end up in the same general range of price. Remember, this is still the affordable ///M.

Hell, you can spec a 328i out to 60 some grand right? Just depends on what your individual needs or goals are...

I think 36K is a dream--I don't know if the 135 was ever that low in the US? If so, it definitely costs more than that to start now.

As stated elsewhere, the M235 is basically the replacement for the 135is in new 2 series form. The 135is starts at 44K. No way we are getting the M235 below that, at least in my opinion.

45-47 feels right to me...now, I would be quite happy if it came in at 40 or lower, but I just don't see that happening.

agreed, no way in hell that M235i is gonna start at 36K. if it does i'll order one as soon as the dealer allows me.

i'd say expect it to start around 44K, but with that the M-sport package should already be included, the rest of the options would be prem, tech and audio, so that would be 6k on top, the car should have an OTD of 50K, which is reasonable

So now we see that the 435i is going to start at $46,925, this conversation might have a little more certainty around it.

I can't see the M235 costing more at the outset than the 435i, but I wouldn't think it would be too much cheaper either. 44 maybe then ?

$44K USD for a 135, here in Australia, $70K AUD base not including on-road costs. $80K+ by the time we get it on the road. Forget options. $1AUD=0.90USD. I want a M235. Might have to sell the kids and the wife.

the 135is I ordered last month stickers for $50,300.....and starts at $43k....so I think $40k sounds remarkably reasonable considering they will have the same power, etc

I stand at 42k. Scott said it would be similar to a M sport 135i. The current 135i starts at 40k + 1,300 M sport. The 135is starts at 43k.

I could see the 135is being more expensive (by 1k) since it is not being mass produced at factory (everything done at port) and also there will be no 235i.

How much do you guys expect the 228i to start at, particularly in comparison to the 320i?
