Upgrading Hi-Fi (S676A) with Tweeters

Just upgraded my factory Hi-Fi audio system (S676A - HIFI LAUTSPRECHERSYSTEM).
It's a shame that 2-Series OEM Hi-Fi doesn't have tweeters... Pure marketing.

So what I did:

Alpine Corner Moulding Left 51332349058
Alpine Corner Moulding Right 51332349059
Alpine Logos 65132230426 (2 in the pack)
+ Harman Kardon Front Door Speaker 65139226357 x2

I also suggest upgrading Middle Door Speakers with Harman Kardon 65139364956 (x2)
And you can also add one more tweeter to your central panel 65139226358 (x1) - as Top-HiFi presume - but it's if you planning to change the amp too IMHO.

Looks great. Bet it sounds better. How much of pain was it to get the door panels off (broken clips?) and any rattles afterwards? I’m tempted to change out my speakers but concerned about door rattle.

Yes, it sounds better now. I even turned down the level of the highs on my equalizer, as they are too loud now (due to factory Hi-Fi amp specifics I guess). No pain at all, you just need to remove the pads on the door and unscrew the bolts at the bottom. Had no broken clips, but yes it is better to do everything gently.

The HIFI amp boosts the highs a lot due to having no actual tweeters in the system and having to compensate with the stock crap full range ones.
I installed some Focals in the same place and found that I needed to turn down the tone setting by 4 clicks. It is nice to get the tweeters up higher and I can crank up the volume without distortion or breakdown of the sound.

No. But there are no separate connection ports for tweeters on the Hi-Fi system. That's why I suggest changing them with Harman Kardon mids - 6513936495 - they have such separate ports. Alternatively, you can stay with the Hi-Fi mids and clamp both twitter and the mid-in wires into one port.

Yes, you are right! It's also possible to change the amp to H/K, but more tweeters should be used then - one in the dashboard and 2 behind the back window, as I'm not really sure about the sound without them.

As best as I can tell, for USDM applications, the part numbers would be 51-41-7-278-449 for the left and 51-41-7-278-450 for the right. Can't find anything for what would be the H-K logos here, perhaps they're built into the housings?

Speaker numbers look to be the same

I'm guessing based on the shared wiring with the mids that the crossovers are built into the tweeters?

I priced out the above at roughly $560..were you able to find a good deal?

That seems a little crazy as far as just replacing door speakers and adding tweeters.

Alpine kit is originally for EU, yes. But these 51417278449 and 51417278450 part numbers are for the Middle Door Speakers. You can stay with your OEM, I guess. I even think that Hi-Fi speaker covers are the same (enclosed please check the picture of H/K). There are no H/K logos on speaker covers, on tweeters only. Here are the numbers for the H/K tweeter speakers, if you need: 51337269361 for the left, and 51337269362 for the right

This is too expensive, my price was about 1/3 of this. Maybe the reason is Alpine kit is for Europe, not US market. Try these numbers for the H/K tweeters, as I said above: 51337269361 for the left, and 51337269362 for the right. Separate numbers for the speakers are 65139226357 x2 (You should check are they already included in the 51337269361/51337269362 kits, because as I can see here https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/51337269361/ - they are already there).
