Headlight aimed too high
Wondering if anyone has ran into this problem before. Headlights were aimed perfectly from the factory. Strangely, the other night I noticed the headlights were aimed straight up into the trees. Nothing has changed. Not sure what would cause it to do this. I've cycled the car a few times now since it happened and it has yet to return to normal. It does the AHL sequence at start up where it starts low and then climbs up, but doesn't level back out. I've played with ProTool even and gone through the cycles of moving the projector around. Guessing I will just have to re-aim them. Any insight would be welcome!

Often that will happen if one of the levelling sensors on the suspension has been broken or the arm has come off. If any suspension work has been done that involves disconnecting components, if the sensor arm is not disconnected first it will likely break.

Interesting. I wonder if the sensor has failed. Is there any way to confirm this before buying a replacement? Looks to be about $56 on bmwpartsdeal. I also checked the plastic linkage up front and it's still connected and doing its job.

There is also a sensor on the rear, diagonally opposite the front one. Disconnecting the arm and moving the sensors manually should cause the headlights to move up and down.
