Hey all. I know, I know, It's the middle of summer and I'm thinking about winter tires!
This may have been asked already on the forum so direct me to the proper link if so. I'm looking at a square set of Blizzack WS90s for my MT 240 (dedicated snow tires for Philly area driving). We don't get much snow but I got stranded last year with runflat Blizzack LM25s, 50% tread remaining. They are terrible in even light snow. Any forum members with feedback on the WS90? I don't mind the trade off losing some handling when dry for better traction in the snow. A major distributor has a good deal on these right now as a closeouts (new old stock DOT 2018). I've done my research but any comments from you all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

My feedback is for the WS80. We used it on a Volvo FWD in Northern New England. It was fine in the snow, but seemed to show its best on ice, wet ice, and slush. We found the WS80s to have pretty poor dry road manners, especially when it was above 40° outside. The tires' deep tread blocks can really flex on you if you lean on the car at all.
That was more or less consistent with the results in this Car and Driver winter tire comparison test (that you've probably seen): https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...es-for-winter/. C&D later did a drive-by winter tire comparison, and it includes the WS90: https://www.caranddriver.com/shoppin...er-snow-tires/. I eventually chose to go with the Michelin X-Ice XI3 on the M240i (bought used from a 2addicts member) and the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 on the wife's Mazda 3. So far both have been overkill for Cincinnati, but you never know what Mother Nature might serve up just when you need that extra little bit of performance on a steep road or driveway with other cars around you.

18" M240i wheels
Hi, I saw that you responded to a post with someone sell wheels/tires and you only need wheels. Mine are off a 2019 M240i with 17k miles. They are staggered 7.5" and 8". I am in San Diego so I am not sure if shipping will be really expensive but I was going to post for $850 or sell separately for $250 for people that damaged wheels.
Let me know if you still need them and maybe we can work something out. I have old wheel boxes and will ship two wheel boxes in a single box; so (2) total boxes being shipped so they will be well protected. Thanks Charles 858-208-8449 |
