2019 M240iX: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...W-M240iX&mg=34; and, 2019 M240i: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...MW-M240i&mg=34. I used 2019 because realoem has yet to update its site for 2020 and 2021, at least as far as 2 Series cars go. My guess would be that 2019 and 2020 models used the same brake parts.

The reason I am inquiring is because I want to change Brake Pads on my newly purchased 10k miles 2020 M240i Xdrive..... stock ones throw off SO much brake dust. I was looking at Rock Auto's Ceramic AKEBONO EUR-1656 and EUR1880 Pads as they have been mentioned on this site as good ones. Then I figured I would look into the new pins and bimetal-retainer. They listed CENTRIC 11734048 for Xdrive Rear...... which showed no pins, a different bimetal-retainer and some rubber cups. Then they showed CENTRIC 11734046 for the non XDrive which did show the pins retainers. So... a little corn-fused .

You could try one of the vendors here; HP Autosport can likely clear up any confusion and always seems to respond quickly. I did take a quick look at Tire Rack's pads for a 2020 M240i xDrive, and they show the Akebono 1656/1880 combo you noted. In a low-dust (ceramic) Centric they show a different pad (part no. 105.16090), and in front-only. More here: https://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resu...taggered+Tires.

This morning I got my lazy butt out to the garage and removed one of the rear wheels to look at the pins and bimetal-retainer clip....... they looked like the same design as the Fronts. So I'll order new Pads today and will just use the stock pins and bi metai-retainer clip that came with the car. Really tired of that (stock Pad) brake dust on my black wheels.

This issue gets raised with some frequency, so once you've got the new pads in and have run them for a bit please come back and let us know how they've worked out for you.

I know this doesn't answer your question so I apologize, but I've been reusing the stock anti-rattle clips and pad pins without any issues, even with multiple track days.. so multiple sets of pads per year. Obviously it's recommended to change the hardware after each pad change and I definitely do that for my Honda SUV. But the ones in these M Sport brakes are pretty solid and good quality. I just give it a good wire brushing + brake clean and I'm ready to go

Yeah, lots of brake dust, but lots of stopping power too!
Want to help with the dust? Take the wheels off and detail them. Then ceramic coat them, or SO2, etc. At least this will then allow the ability to clean them much, much easier. I did mine when new and 2 years on they still she'd diet fairly easy. Although they're due for a redo, lol. But remember, sometimes if you wanna go fast, you'll need to stop fast too. If you aren't hard on your car, pads that don't bite so much might be ok. Good Luck! |

Once you go into the RealOEM links that dradernh sent, it shows that there's no difference in part numbers for the expansion spring/ anti-rattle clip (Line 3) and guide pins (Line 4) in regards to the M240i and M240iX.
HOWEVER, there is a difference between the hardware for the Fronts and for the Rears. Some websites like FCP Euro don't have the hardware for the rear on their website for some reason. |

I might change them more often if I could find them cheaper. I keep hearing that generic Brembo (as opposed to BMW OE) are way cheaper, but I haven't been able to find a good source. Anyone have any leads on OEM quality pins/springs at less than BMW OE prices? |

Note that Zeckhausen's Centric part number for the front kit is different than is Rock Auto's Centric part number in the link posted by PeterWT.

F: 11734047 R: 11734046 Maybe you were looking at the "Alternate/OEM Part Number" on the Rock Auto page.

I was indeed looking at the alternate number, as it was featured more prominently on the page. My mistake. Rock Bottom's pricing is truly spectacular.

Received my new Akebono Pads today and , after watching Baylor spank Oklahoma, this old man (74) went to the garage and changed all pads. Got to admit; that was the easiest pad change I have ever done! I washed the wheels while they were off..... looking forward to less brake dust on them. Did a bed-in procedure but haven't driven it enough to really tell the difference between the stock pads and these. So far tho, seems quite suitable for street driving.

Waxed the black wheels / looking good. Drove for 10-15 miles this morning in the 35 degree temps. Pads bedded (I guess) . Stopping power is slightly to a little less than the stock brake Pads; but are perfectly fine for street driving. Can not say that they are significantly less or fade more than stock pads at spirited or track type driving because I haven't tested that nor do I rarely do that. No brake dust found on wheels: Happiness.
Low tire pressure Alert came on with the change in temps around here..... and they were indeed low. Inflated them and finally figured out how to reset the monitor (duh), drove it, it reset and all is well. |
