Stock Tune and Spark Plug Gap
Parking this post so that those of us that have not/do not plan on tuning have some better information on the spark plug gap for the F22 N55 engine.
First and foremost, ZR5TPP33 / 0242145515 is the correct plug. These are excellent units that are reasonably priced and plentiful; no need to go for a different brand. According to the ZR5TPP33 / 0242145515 box, the gap specification is .032". I checked each plug with a verified feeler gauge and measured .028" across the lot. I am unsure what the reason is for the discrepancy in stated versus measured gap. My car was still running its original plugs, meaning they had been operating correctly for just over 93k miles (33k miles over the recommended service interval). Although I hate to admit this particular lack of "preventative" maintenance, my car was still averaging 32 mpg hwy with no perceptible power loss. Upon removing my very high mileage OEM plugs, I measured the gap at .035". Keep in mind that the electrode degrades overtime. tl/dr, I used out of the box ZR5TPP33 plugs (measured at .028") and experienced excellent results. Same here but Stage 1 Tune
I changed my plugs at 50k and used the same plugs and .028 Gap from the Bosch.
Then at 60K miles went BM3 Stage 1 93 with CP, IC and DP. After data logs -- found all running well on existing plugs & gap. Thinking of Changing Plugs & Coils now that I am near 70k miles. Just not certain as to which plug and coil -- The Bosch has worked well but Eldor and NGK are looking superior. |

The n20 coil is supposed to be a direct fit upgrade over the n55 coils. I’ll be doing this once I have some more info. But seems promising
