RIP Dr. Simeone

Dr. Frederick Simeone died over the past weekend. He established the Simeone Foundation, an absolutely fabulous automotive museum in Philadelphia PA. If you haven't been there -- or even if you have -- go see it when you are in the area.

Godspeed Dr. Simeone. I enjoyed seeing you drive your treasures around on demo days, and hearing you talk about how you came to find them. You are missed!

RIP. What a great, almost unknown museum. I visited when they had the Ford GT40 out in the parking lot after Ford Vs. Ferrari came out and was happy to see and hear one running in person.

I first saw him in Reading at the Duryea Hillclimb. He was there with the Aston Martin DBR1. I was staring at the car, thinking, what is that? Is it maybe an Aston? Some guy was standing beside it, chatting up onlookers. It was Fred Simeone.

The car looked and sounded fabulous. He drove it enthusiastically, but far from crazy fast.

He gave up a Saturday to give a tour to the Phila. area Mercedes club. Phenomenal guy.
