It's interesting and looks expensive, but has a few out-of-the-box design elements (e.g. the vertical extensions of the headlights and tail lights). I don't see it aging well.

The Germans generally don't put weird styling elements into their designs which is why many German cars older than me are still so beautiful to this day.

The big LC500 could use the torque from the new twin turbo V6.

Duck isn't trying to get its fleet to conform to government fuel efficiency standards. Lexus is -- and mostly with engines that are at least several years old in design. Fuel efficiency is the number-one reason these high-number auto boxes exist.

Finally: how do you figure the car shifts every 7 MPH? So the car's top speed is somewhere between 70 and 90 mph? It depends on how the car's being driven at the time ... and besides: I guarantee you the LC has at least one sport-oriented drive mode that eliminates 1-3 of the top gears from the mode. (The ZF8 in our BMWs eliminates the top gear in anything above Sport mode, for instance).
not under full acceleration, but if you're going 0-70 yes. If top speed is 180, guestimate, that's 3 shifts well before 60 mph, and in the quarter, probably 7. Shifts slow you down. Better mpg granted. Let'ssee how long those fleet standards last after 8 days from now, and after federal lands are reopened for oil exploration, ANWR is approved, and gas is under $1 a gallon again.

I quite agree with your statement.
This car might need to be more subtle.
But Lexus likes to bet on their design i think.
Time will tell though.

It's beautiful car especially when you see it up close. The interior is my favourite part however. I'm really trying to like the spandle front grill but still not sure. It sure will have road presence once they're on the road. I'm looking to get another car once the F30 lease is over and do far F Type is what I'm leaning towards but the LC is really putting doubts in my decision. Thanks a lot Lexus for making me even more undecided...

Yeah a bit nice, nevertheless a rebadged Toyota, possibly U.S. made. However with BMW sourced drivetrain should be more fun to drive than Lexus' before Toyota's partnership with BMW.

I could tolerate the Audi, BMW and Mercedes carbon copies that Toyota/Lexus put out before more than I can the weird design language that Toyota/Lexus switched to starting in 2013. This is why I left Lexus after 5 years.

Very nice, and I love the color. But will it have a BMW sourced transmission or Motor? Infiniti has improved a lot since getting Mercedes sourced engines and other drivetrain. Other than that Toyota will build few LC 500's since the demand may be quite low considering the average Lexus customer is entry level and in the 25 to 50 year old age range with an average household income of $30k to $90k annually. Other than a retiree with a paid off mortgage and an older LS to trade in I can't see the average millionaire trying to scoop up a Lexus LC.

This could be said about past models, but going forward the RWD models will all be built on the all new GA-L platform. The LC will be built at the Lexus Motomachi facility in Japan, the same plant that produced the LFA.

The drivetrain is from Lexus. A V8 (2UR-GSE) and a V6 hybrid (8GR-FXS). They only expect to sale 400 units a month in the U.S. So about 4,800 a year.

Every BMW owner screamed their lungs out that ISF 8 speed transmission is garbage and you don't need 8 speeds.....That is until ZF8 came out, now it's the best tranny ever ))

Scoop! 600-HP Lexus LC F Coming This Fall

Quote:
Currently, the 471-hp Lexus LC500 is the brand’s high-performance flagship. But we’ve learned that Lexus is planning more. Set to make its debut at the Tokyo auto show in October is an ultra-high-performance LC F that will feature a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 punching out a potent 600 horsepower.

According to our source at Lexus, this high-performance powerplant is in essence two 8AR-type 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines joined together at 90 degrees. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 also will find its way into the GS F—making 550 horsepower—but for the LC F it will be turned up to 600 horsepower, with 470 lb-ft of torque. As with the LC500, the F will use the company’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

The LC F’s bespoke body kit will feature hood vents, air ducts for brake cooling, a fixed rear wing, and an aggressive front splitter as well as side and rear air vents. A set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber will keep the LC F stuck to the road, while six-piston brake calipers will squeeze the rotors to scrub off speed. We’ll learn more about the hardware on this ultimate Lexus this fall.

While the LC500 will start at $92,995, the LC F could nearly double that figure. Sound expensive? Well, it’s a bargain next to the $350,000 Lexus asked for the LFA.

V8 Engine doesnt fit in 3IS hence they never planned to do an ISF for current gen. Shows you what Toyota bean counters think of Lexus F cars.
