Rear DRL coding

Hi all, I am using Bimmercode to try to turn on the real DRLs. After multiple attempts at coding it and getting an 'active' message in the Bimmercode app, the rear daytime running lights still do not light up. Do I need to use expert mode to turn them on for a non-LCI taillight?

I've done it with e-sys so it definitely works on non-LCI, but never done it with bimmercode.
With e-sys you can just use a cheatcode to do it, you just tick "enable taillight as DRL".

The options that need to be changed are:
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H_L_OUTPUT - default is "", needs to be set to "sl_l"
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H_R_OUTPUT - default is "", needs to be set to "sl_r"

Strange, I checked in expert mode and mine are set to the appropriate settings for 'on' yet I still get no DRLs. I've coded them several times, toggling on and off and back again but still no lights.

There are bulbs in the housing, right?

Ha, yes, they light for braking and when lights are on.

I only needed the two options coded to switch them on on my 2017 M240i, but there are 8 possible options that may make a difference:

MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H_L_OUTPUT - "sl_l"
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H_R_OUTPUT - "sl_r"
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H2_L_OUTPUT - "sl_2_l
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H2_R_OUTPUT - "sl_2_r
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H_L_FUNCTION - "werte 06"
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H_R_FUNCTION - "werte 07"
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H2_L_FUNCTION - "werte 06"
MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_H2_R_FUNCTION - "werte 07"

Thanks. I'll take at look at those.

Thanks aerobod - I tried the codes you have shown. Two questions:

When you show a value like 'werte 07', I see a value that says '0x06'. Am I changing that to '0x07'?

Also, when coding is in process and I get the 'restarting ECU' message I don't always see my instrument panel reset. Does that mean the ECU isn't restarting and is that affecting the coding?

Yes. Mine is. I've also tried in 'on'. It's very strange, I haven't seen anyone have an issue coding the DRLs on so I'm not sure what I'm missing.

Yes, the “werte 07” or “werte=07” in E-Sys means “value=07”, so setting the parameter to 07 hex, i.e. 0x07 should be the same.

You also have to set it on idrive. There is some setting in lighting

Hey I’m having the same issue with my 15 Bmw m4, I’ve coded via bimmer code and it shows active but the lights are still off. Did you fix it?

Double check that DRL are set to "on" in the i Drive settings as you can turn them (both front and rear) off there.
