BMW 230i intake options

Hi, I'm thinking of installing an intake system for my f22 230i

1st option) including a "direct" system, example: https://clptuning.co.uk/product/mst-intake-kit-bmw-b48/
Maybe another brands would be better? such as K&N, Injen, etc.

2nd option) with the OEM box just a filter attached to the OEM nozzle, example: https://clptuning.co.uk/product/pror...ne-air-filter/

Which one do you suggest?

I had the Injen intake and it was just kind of annoying, TBH. The tiny turbo in the N20 is great for low end torque as it spools up quick, however I think it sounds grading and strained when it’s made noticeable by the intake. To each their own though. Some people think it sounds cool. No noticeable power gains, really. One time the engine misfired in the rain during a hard pull and I’m assuming that’s due to too much moisture contacting the MAF but not 100% sure on that. Another thing to consider is your driving environment. In New England, I’m constantly going through dust, smog and heavy particulate between Maine and New York, so I went back to the stock air box to better protect the engine and I change it out between 5 and 10k miles. — if you’re just looking for performance gains, the K&N is all you really need IMHO

Have read good things about the MST intake fwiw. I have the Dinan CAI which was easy to install and have not have any issues with it. The 'whoosh' sound is more muted than the options you have listed if that's what you are after. Performance wise a good drop in should be all you really need.

The airbox on the 220/230i is the same size as the unit in the 240i. There's very little benefit in upgrading it for performance reasons because it's designed to flow 50% more to feed the extra 2 cylinders in the B58. The aftermarket ones look nice and make cool noises though. My advice would be to swap the filter and spend your money on a charge pipe, downpipe, tune, and/or diff instead.

We offer Dinan, Injen, AFE & BMS intakes

The Injen intake is by far our most popular one

performance is the same with any style intake
