Short Shifter Recommendation

I've been looking for a short shifter kit lately and have been wanting a less lengthy shift and to get rid of the rubbery feel of the stock shifter. Anyone have any suggestions?

A Google search of M235, 335, or M2 short shifter should find you something.

Keep in mind that short shifters come as the expense of added transmission noise, vibration, and reduced leverage (i.e., harder to shift the gears). They're also a pain to install on these cars and quite expensive for a good one.

You might want to consider the M Performance shift knob first. It greatly reduces the rubbery feel because of the hardened and weighted knob. Also, the smaller and shorter knob gives the feel of a reduced throw. I love mine.

I'd see if the Auto Solutions kit for the M2 will fit. It's outstanding.

But the M-performance knob is outstanding as well. It's slightly shorter, so you actually do have a reduced throw, and it feels much more precise than the stock knob. A hardened knob is usually good

I did the group custom Rogue SSK build and it was $400 with tranny mount. There is almost zero NVH and changes the car. (lil feel when shifting, obviously) - they don't make normally for F22/F23. Others may have NVH.

There are Dinan kits and FCP Euro. As I plow through mods, its simply by far the best change.

Regarding Rogue SSK: is the gear engagement more mechanical and "snappy", compared to the rubbery stock shift ?

Thats good description. Its more crisp, shorter. Very little NVH. Its like it should have been from factory. Its more Porsche like IMO.

Since Rogue Shifter seems no longer available I think I will go for the UUC shifter instead:

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-2...kit-f22-m235i/

I will report back my impressions if/when it is installed.
I just want to upgrade my car, because to be honest after 6+ years the whole experience is getting old. I figure it may be a smarter move than buying M2, especially because that car carries identical shifter as M235i (or at least its feel is not improved) to the best of my knowledge. Also, the M2 has rock-hard suspension which may be nice in California, but not in the middle of Ontario winter when driving on ice/snow rutted roads.
