Drivetrain malfunction - cylinder 3 misfire

I've search this forum and did several google searches but haven't been able to find a solution for my situation.

I was having hesitation issues in top gear around 120km/h for a week or so but then one day when i tried to accelerate hard in 4th gear it hesiated drastically, I got the drivetrain malfunction warning and the car was running rough.

Code reader found a cylinder 3 misfire. I changed the plugs about 3K kms ago with one step colder NGK plugs (piggy back tune on car) and the car ran fine for about 2,500 kms. I swapped coils from cylinder 1 and 5 with cylinder 3. No change. Car stutters whenever I try to accelerate with anything more than a tiny bit of throttle and throws drivetrain malfunction. I gapped the plugs from the pre-gap 0.032 to 0.026. No change.

Since I swapped coils, I don't think it's that. The car ran fine for over a month so I don't see how it could be the plugs, but thought it could be the gap due to the tune and one step colder, but that didn't help.

Any thoughts? Has anyone had something similar and found a solution?

Do you smell unburnt fuel from the exhaust? If not, your injector might be toast. Otherwise I would buy a single spark plug and swap out cylinder 3.

I took another look at cylinder 3 spark plug and the porcelain was cracked quite badly. Surprising since it was so new. A new plug solved the issue
