B58 uprated charge pipe help

So many B58 charge pipe upgrade options. I'm told that replacing this will improve throttle response slightly and reduce turbo lag slightly. We know it's not going likely split below 26psi, so not really required as preventative maintenance but if you want water/meth injection it's a must.

So who has fitted which ones and can confirm any of this in a real world observation and which ones are the best quality and fit. Now the forge one seems to be £100 more than all it's rivals so let me know what you have and what you think?

What he said

Avoid any with different diameter pipes and a silicone adapter. Which is all of them.

Maintenance Item

B58 could be different from the N55 crowd: however, over time, the plastic Charge Pipe can crack due to heat and pressure.

CP is just a more stout air duct that can take the pressure & heat.

Usually upgraded with a tune .

Don't see it as snake oil -- glad I have mine.
.
Have not heard the CP provides a performance gain other than it doesn't crack or blow off under elevated pressure.

The B58 could be different but N55 plastic CP's do fail.

I'm not mapped but was thinking of upgrading. I assume it's a waste of money without a remap then?

Why is that?
If you fit a short expansion adapter like most charge pipes use, they introduce turbulent flow, which hurts performance. The angle should be no more than 15 degree included.

If you are staying stock turbo it's not needed. Everyone I know with an upgraded turbo has upgraded for piece of mind. I have the vrsf, not overly impressed with the quality but it works. FTP has a good reputation and I've used their other products which were perfect fit. Few others out there now but I have no experience with them.

I was referring to the B58 which doesn't have the failure the the N55 is plagued with. Everything I've read and heard is that BMW fixed the CP issue with the release of the B58.

Found this post after originally researching BM3, seeing lots of charge pipe issue stories, and wondering if I will need to upgrade mine. But I too have a B58.

Is it safe to say that a BM3 stage 1 would not need an upgraded charge pipe to be reliable? (Not tracking, just spirited driving and long highway trips).

It doesn't appear to be a b58 issue. I'm also just a lurking forum member so take it for what you will lol. But yeah basically all indications are it's a non issue for our cars

I ran BM3 stage 1 on my B58 for a year before upgrading to stage 2 last week. I've been running stock charge pipes the whole time and have had no problems.

There is definitely an increase in throttle response with a well designed CP. Maybe even more noticeable on a tuned engine.
