Spring Questions on M235i
Bought my 235i with H&R 28891-2's on it already, which should drop it by 25mm, looks to have settled really low and is causing issues with ground clearance here in the UK.
Been thinking about swapping it to a 15mm drop instead to help with the clearance but unsure if it's even worth the swap. Any thoughts? Here's the current setup on the 25mm springs Cheers |

Dinan springs might give you the drop you are looking for, though I have heard of people who weren't happy with how low those settled either. Point being springs don't always drop what they advertise and obviously they aren't adjustable.
You could either throw the stock springs back on, take a gamble on another set of aftermarket springs, or buy a set of coils which would allow you to adjust the height (just be sure to verify the adjustment range beforehand, as some sets have a minimum drop of an inch or so). Pretty much the same amount of labor is involved with all those options. Personally I just purchased a set of KW V1s myself. On my model they say 0.2-1.2" front and 0-1" rear. Made a nice dent in my wallet but I plan to do the work myself and only want to do it once. |

Lots of people here will think that is a nice drop. 25mm (~an inch) is a significant amount out of a total stock ground clearance of 5 inches.
That said the surface in front of your car in the picture looks unpaved. I drive on those regularly too and am quite content with my stock ride height. 15 will be 10mm better than 25, but you should mostly figure out what really works best for your driving conditions. Few other people will ever notice. Cheers. |

No lights will come on. It will be really low though and ride poorly. Keep that in mind.

Just watch the part numbers and get the correct ones for your car. They are half the drop that Dinan springs are. For some reason the 4 cylinder pro kit springs are much lower than the 6 cyl. It likely could cause other spring rate issues based on engine weight in the front... (Below numbers are for RWD)
4 cyl Eibach pro kit are 1.2" F and 0.8" R 6 cyl Eibach pro kit are 0.3" F and 0.5" R 4 cyl Dinan springs are 0.5" F and 0.5" R 6 cyl Dinan springs are 0.5" F and 1" R 4 cyl H&R springs are 1" F and 0.8" R 6 cyl H&R springs are 1" F and 1" R I purchased a set of pro kit springs for my car that I hope to put on in the spring (pun intended). So hopefully it wont be slammed. Last edited by freakystyly; 01-23-2023 at 06:54 PM.. |
