exposed wiring loom, normal?

I purchased a 2014 M235i, it drives so amazing, more on that in another post.
When I went to pickup the car I noticed fibreglass insulation near the firewall in both the drivers and passenger side, near the drain. They removed some but once I removed the covers there was more
It was very difficult to remove but once I did I inspected the wiring for any knicks and did not see any. I noticed the wiring loom rubber terminates a few inches from the firewall and there is just thin coated wires but they are not in a loom. Some of them
Are at the bottom near the drain.
Is this normal. Can someone please inspect because I can take back the car. There is a cover on each side that is removed easily with a 10mm. It seems deliberate but I’m a bit surprised the wiring isn’t protected. There is no red codes in ISTA and the car drives fine

Thank you!

Very weird.
Rodent damage or nest??
Wonder if the car spent it's life outside of a garage.

The car was sitting outside in a dealer lot, it was overpriced so it sat for sometime

Can't speak for what is under the cover, but from memory I know the wiring in the drain areas on my car are just a tied bundle of individual wires like in your picture. I remember looking at it and being surprised it was not more waterproofed, but I guess it is as much so as it needs to be.

a tip I learned on this forum the tool pouch in the trunk near the battery has a screwdriver where the plastic handle has a recess that matches the 10mm nuts on the plastic panels for the brake reservoir and left side battery jumper terminals.

2015 M235, took these pics today

Looks like my pictures are to big to upload
My wires look like yours, so you should be good to go if they haven't been chewed on.

Thanks a billion, my anxiety is going down, so odd it’s not in a loom adjacent to a drain!
