Seaside blue 230i - progress thread

After 3 years of e70 X5 ownership I decided to get something smaller and with manual transmission. At first I was looking for mazda mx5, gt86/brz or wrx imprezas. But found a very nice blue 230i on salvage auctions and decided to go for it.

So I started searching for cars with the same color accidentally found out that the previous owner is a 2addicts user (@beauderek) and has some tasty modifications done to the car.
Aside the seaside blue and oyster interior combo it has m performance brakes , suspension, steering and the previous owner installed m perf front bumper, alcantara shift knob, pre lci m sport steering wheel and cf lip with mirror caps.

After 2.5 months of waiting the car arrived in my country.

The battery was dead (got replaced eventually) so we jump started it and drove into the garage and started to disassemble the damaged components

Some of the damaged suspension arms

Took off the headlight and fixed bumper's shape

The headlight was badly damaged and was holded together by the rear modules and caps.

Ordered a replacement one and started to fix this one as a temporary solution.

By the end it came out so good the I started to regret buying the new headlight

Cleaned up the interior and installed f30 floor mats

First oil change and dmv registration

Installed aluminum underbody protection from F3x. The front protection was completely missing, probably insurance removed it in the and did not put it back. Also the two triangular extensions of the front fender liners were missing.

Just a simple protective film was applied, glossy for needles and matte for the background. Companies that do paint protection film installs usually have the design of the cluster available, so they can cut locally and apply. I paid around 20$ for the cluster.

BTW the f22 lci design wasn't available in their software but x1 f48 and f22 share clusters, so we went with the one for the x1 f48.

Great, Thanks for the info. Would never have thought about that for the cluster.

Replaced stock console buttons with the M ones. They came installed on M3 F80, M4 F82 and on the M2 CS. I'm planning to install a front camera with android head unit and connect the sideview camera to it.

The new one has an additional 8th pin that goes to adjust the steering wheel. Otherwise they are identical in size and fit. Replaced in 20 seconds, the block is removed by pulling from above.

The top 3 buttons work like on a regular one, the steering wheel button does nothing since it is not connected)

Hardwired Xiaomi 70mai m300 DVR. The wire was connected to a previously installed usb socket near the passenger's feet.

Coded ASD module to produce B58 noises. Now I can shift gears without looking at the rev needle. Stock 230 is very quiet.

And in the end, washing

Absolutely beautiful work bringing this back!

Seems like you've got a nice touch for OEM+ modifications too, bravo my friend.
