This time it is 1 to 2 inches only. We mostly get sleet or freezing rain during winter. |

As I said earlier I love the car. Even when it's frozen over!
My own worry is what the ferric 461M wheels are going to look like on the Alpine White 228i I'm planning on ordering. There's not a lot of photos on the web in my combination- believe me, I've looked- and the BMW configurator- as good as it is- obviously doesn't show any real-life photos. The ferric color looks great on cars that have a strong vivid color - melbourne red, estoril blue, but white? Not so sure. Wish I could order the M-brakes as a stand alone item and play it safe by skipping the ferric color. |

Yes, you have to get the ferric wheels with the track package. No substitutions says my dealer.
I sort of like them now but they feel so tied into what's popular and likely turn out to be just a trend that looks passé in a year or two. I think the design of the car will age really well- but the wheels will date it. Hate to think I'll be looking for aftermarket wheels in two years. Dunno. Melbourne Red is looking better and better. |

Did you happen to test drive a 235i? Wondering if you chose 228i for any specific reason. I've thought about 228 w/ track package like yours instead of a 235i... but wasn't sure if it would compare.

I also liked idea of a lighter car with performance options only except for the engine. So far I'm very happy with this choice. |

BTW, it couldn't be yours as the 228i on Craigslist is listed as having a 6 cyl. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv...004113366.html

$6k difference between my two builds, (235i no paid-for options, 228i with msport and trackHP only). what are your thoughts after a couple more months? thanks!

If you need more power and better engine exhaust note then it is hard not to choose M235i. I never got a chance to compare both of them so it will be obvious that my opinion may be biased. This is my first car with turbo and I still trying to adjust with turbo lag and MT combination (rev matching downshift is still a bit tricky). |
