Cleaning Up Key Scratches
So yes, I've had the time-honored tradition of being keyed in two places on the passenger side recently.
What's the best course of action to get these fixed? Mind you, I don't have a buffer or any other real related tools, and my biggest fear in trying to do it myself is to not have it look clean and professional. I'm open to shop recommendations, product recommendations, pretty much anything. Would it just be easiest to take it to a BMW body shop? Sorry about that - the Google Docs links should work now.

looks like you need a pro.
but also consider a capacitor dash cam hardwired front and rear, even if the g-sensors won't guarantee picking up a keying. |

Yeah, I'm sorry this happened. Unfortunately you'll need some help from the professionals. Those look too deep for using a polisher. Polishing would be more effective for more minor scratches and swirls. A few years back I used a bumper/paint repair guy. It was only a few hundred dollars and was well worth it. There could be some value in it for you.

Take your finger nail and try to feel the scratch. If your nail catches over the scratch it is through the clear and won't be 100% fixable. You can use rubbing compound on the area and try to cut the edges down so it doesn't look so bad, and then polish, and wax. A pro might be wise though if you don't have the tools or experience, they can get more aggressive if it's needed (IE automotive sandpaper)

its clearly down to the base and passed the point of a self fix.
Your going to need to have those panels repainted and hope it color matches. You can go through insurance and just pay deductible. Your other option is to wrap the car.

Find a legit detailer that can do the work. It is possible to fix without repainting the whole panels.

Figured this is the most relevant thread; I am trying to find the paint color code for the high gloss black window trim piece. My wife's ring put a small scratch on it bracing herself as she leaned in the open window.
