Opinions Sought on Sport Cat & Exhaust

For my 2016 M235i, I am planning to swap my factory cat for a sport cat down pipe. After doing a lot of searching here and elsewhere, I am still interested in opinions on the two questions posed below.

1. Which sport cat do you recommend?

2. Would you recommend a cat-back exhaust or other exhaust like MPR or Dinan? I do want to retain the valve actuator when switching to Sport+.

Would like the exhaust to be no louder than the MPE in Comfort mode.

Thank you in advance for your opinions.

Right now I have an evolution Racewerks sport cat along with MPE. I would say it's perfect. It has decent volume and great sound under heavy acceleration, but it won't turn heads when you are just cruising through a parking lot. Also on highway in comfort mode you can barely hear it with the radio off.

I would say this is exactly the setup I was looking for...however I think the armytrix sounds amazing too. If I did go armytrix at this point I think I'd only go axle back. You won't really see any gains by going cat back and I have already replaced my cat.

I have also heard great things about the fabspeed cat. A little bit more price, but I believe they guarantee no CEL and have had great customer support. I believe some people threw cels and Fabspeed went back and revised their design then replaced any CEL units free of charge.

+1 Fabspeed is top notch quality and truly care about their customers satisfaction. I personally love the their valvetronic exhaust and think it is one of if not the best sounding exhaust for this platform. Exotic sounding with zero done who can ask for much more

I got the Fabspeed Sport cat DP and it sounds great. The rest of my exhaust is stock and will likely remain that way. It's plenty loud at cold start and is throaty and loud at WOT in sport mode. In other words, the car only sounds loud and aggressive when I want it to.

Fabspeed claims you won't get a CEL and I don't have one, but it's only been 400 miles since I swapped. I'm pretty sure every other sport cat DP will throw a CEL after a short period of time.

Definitely recommended.

Thank you for the support everyone! We do offer a variety of exhaust components for the M235i. On my personal M235i, I have the Sport Cat Downpipe with our Muffler Bypass Exhaust and it sounds amazing! We also do offer a full Valvetronic Exhaust and a Catbypass Downpipe. I will post some media of different setups below for you to check out!

We've had great feedback with the Fabspeed Sport Cat Downpipe, highly recommend.

Consider their exhaust too!

Our Sport Cat is designed to bolt-in just like factory! I know plenty of guys who were able to do it themselves in their garage

1. Which sport cat do you recommend?

Wagner, Evolution Racewerks and Fabspeed make the highest quality downpipes.
Fabspeed uses the highest quality cats (HJS). Wagner is the most popular choice

No company can guarantee 100% no CEL forever but the higher the quality of the product the less likely to get CEL code

2. Would you recommend a cat-back exhaust or other exhaust like MPR or Dinan? I do want to retain the valve actuator when switching to Sport+.

Depends on what you are looking for. Lots of good options available
