Xdrive wheel recommendations

Looking for recommendationson staggered setup
Hate the 225 tire look

I'm sure plenty of members here have done some setup
Thinking of a spring drop too
Maybe spacers

My thoughts are to find wheels that fit tires 225 front and 255 rear. Xdrive feels great with the exactly equal diameters and wider stagger. For a summer set I would personally go with 19s and for winter 18s. Try to avoid spacers.

Front 8-8.5", offset 40-35
Rear 9-9.5", offset 50-45

VMR wheels have great fitment as do many others.

Do you know what the offset is for VMR V705? I hear 225/40/18 on either the 18x8 or 18x8.5 and then the 255/35/18 on the 18x9.5 will be a good setup. What offsets and and which front wheel size would you recommend if I do 18x9.5 rear?

I got the HRE FF15s in a 19" staggered and love them! Tires are 235/35 and 245/35. With xdrive it's crucial to make sure the rolling diameters of front and rear are as close as possible, ideally under 2% difference.

I think there are two offset options for both front and rear, one being more OEM like and the other pushed farther out. Check with VMR.

I ordered some wheels, 18x8.5 et42 front and 18x9.5 et45 rear.

Keep In mind I have Xdrive so Ive been told its important to keep rolling diameter below 2% between front and rear. With that being said it's been from research that I'll have no issues running 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear.

Can anyone say if I can run bigger tires while staying below the 2% needed on staggered setup for xdrive? For example is 235/40/18 front ok with 255/35/18? Would it beneficial to just go with the 225/40 vs 235/40 front? Can I go bigger than 255 rear?

End goal is I want to run biggest/thickest tires with no rub on the wheel specs mentioned while not causing issue to xdrive.

Any feed back is appreciated.

I ran 235/40/18 front and 255/35/18 for a while but returned to 225/40/18 because a) it always felt like the car struggled a bit to get going (compared to 225/40) and b) it didn't handle as well as with 225/40. On the positive side the brakes were better. I would avoid the 235/40/18 + 255/35/18 combo. Also, I am not sure it will fit with your front ET42 and 8.5 wide wheel.

Thanks for the feed back, sounds to me I'll be good with the 225/40 front. Any recommendations on the rear? Can I run 255/40 vs 255/35 and still be under the 2% and no rub?

I never considered my x drive complicating things. I did months of research to find a rim, width, offset, and tire that would fit the rear in my price range (nothing Im a peasant driving rich mans cars).

So I ended up with 225/40 on 8s in the front and 255/35 on 9s in the rear. It looks mean and nasty I love it- but should I be worried about it messing with my traction control system and x drive system?

Thanks in advance!

Why? 225/40 and 255/35 have an almost identical rolling radius so your xdrive is fine (happier than with the stock 225/40 and 345/35 stagger) and the traction control steps in if there is slip so fitting different tires makes no difference for the car (as slip depends on tire width/ tire itself/ temperature/ conditions.... there is more/less depending on many parameters anyway)
