Front yellow bulb marker delete

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of getting these ugly yellow bulbs out of the way. Has anyone done a delete on these and if so whats the best dead bulb to put in there that doesn't throw a code or anything.

I am tired of them taking away from the front end look at night and was wondering if there was even a way to have them come on only when I am signalling/hazards lights.

If anyone has info on this or can direct me to an existing thread on this that would be great.

Thank you!!

Google Bimmian. Go to their site. Look under lights. Not sure what else you need to know.

So just FYI: What you are talking about doing is illegal in all 50 states.

It's one thing to want to improve the look of the side-marker lights -- also illegal, but generally people do it and have no ill effects from LEOs or otherwise.

It's a totally different thing to want to delete them entirely. You WILL be cited for it, repeatedly, until you put them back on -- especially if you're located in SoCal as your 'Location' info suggests.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Oh yeah - delete entirely is BAD. I assumed OP wanted to do the same thing I did which is having a bulb that's chrome when off and orange when lit - so it's basically the exact same thing as stock except the car looks a lot better when parked.

lol no not actually delete haha more of get rid of the yellow bulb and replace with a clear one that still does the functions of the bulb.

I prefer not to have the amber illuminate at night is the main concern. Only when I am signalling and such.

Not trying to delete fully

Bimmian to purchase the chrome coated bulb. while off it blends in, while on it illuminates amber.

To turn it off during night driving and only use for signaling, you’ll need to code it out.

Use bimmercode app and purchase a Bluetooth enabled obdII receiver. I actually purchased the Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth and coded them out just yesterday.
Worked like a charm, super easy.

Good thread.

This sounds like a good mood. I've always thought that the white lights by themselves look better at night. Just a cleaner look.

the "while on it illuminates amber" I believe is key to staying legal in most locations. When not required to be illuminated it isn't required to be an ugly orange abomination in the headlight housing.

The chrome coated bulbs are great.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to access the bulb? Is it behind the bumper where the wheel well is? I tried looking under the hood but behind it looked a little weird with no access.

You're on the right track. Turn your wheel out (or remove it) to better access the "trapdoor" in the fender lining to get to the bulbs.

It's also in the owners manual assuming you have one and the inclination to do some homework.

Thanks I found it. BMW makes it a bore entering in VIN numbers just to get a manual. Looks pretty complicated compared to other cars. I ordered some chrome bulbs that blink amber from europe and the eta on delivery is literally 1 month lol.

Installed the chrome bulb that blinks amber. It gives it a much sleeker appearance and looks way cleaner in my opinion.
