Nice way to confirm. Definitely gives confidence it was done at the factory for whatever reason. I do have my SA looking into it....

What matters is whether or not you like the 436 better than the 719! If you like the 719 better, you should stone them into getting them for you and still keeping the $1,000 off.

For where you are the tires are probably a better choice anyway and the wheels look great.

I do like the wheels....I had originally wanted the all season tires because we like to drive to Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas from time to time, but the X3 might end up being the primary vehicle for those trips.

The only thing I saw on the sticker was 18" orbit grey wheels. Couldn't those be the new LCI wheels as well? I didn't see type 436M specified anywhere.

Anyways, clearly you got them so this is mostly out of curiosity and interest on my part.

EDIT: I looked back at my 2017 F22 pricing guide. The wheels are called "double-spoke orbit grey". The wheels in the 2019 F22 pricing guide are called "double-spoke bi-color". So you're absolutely right, this came from the factory. Now I really am curious to know why.

If you go to the BMW USA site, the 436M wheels are the default choice if you don't select a specific option on the 2019 M240i.

Odd because usually when BMW discontinues a certain wheel option, they don't ever bring it back.

I guess this was a popular choice or they had a surplus of these particular wheels.. :

Wow, I never noticed that before. I went back to my original build code (DRTA5RTT), however, and noticed that the wheels I chose are included in the build. For some reason, that choice just didn't make it to the factory.

Beautiful. Estoril is such a beautiful color on these cars. Go put a ceramic coating on it. It will look spectacular

Getting that done next week Planning on getting the mirror caps painted Estoril Blue, and switching the front grille to the M Performance Gloss Black grille.

Will put up more pics when all is done.

beautiful M240! that car in that color will be my next daily driver...probably about 3 years away. in the meantime i'll continue to enjoy my 228i.

btw, i'm not usually a fan of darker wheels, especially black, but the orbit gray with the estoril blue combo is really working nicely!

congrat!

I'm liking the Orbit Grey wheels and it does look really good with Estoril Blue in person. 3 years from now, however, I don't know for sure that you'll have Estoril Blue as an option on a new car; more than likely it will be Yas Marina or Long Beach Blue that are available. Unless you're planning on picking up a 2019 three years from now as a CPO?

yep...always CPO for me...at least since i bought a new E36 in 1992.

regardless...all of the blue variants appeal to me. i really love the long beach metallic on the M2, but considering my daily commute is 100 miles R/T, i just dont think it's a viable ride for me.

The M2 is a great car, but probably not for daily commuting. My wife and I did a test drive and the suspension is quite jouncy on uneven roads. That's the main reason we went with the M240i, and the performance is so close to the M2 that we really aren't missing anything other than the aggressive looks of the M2. Moreover, we have xDrive and that really makes the car feel glued to road even on wet days on the twisties. Really loving this car so far!

Whoh! I tried it out with the M240i and the 719Ms are standard. But with the M240xi you're spot on and the darker 436Ms appear.

Also, is staggered/square as simple as RWD/xDrive or does it have to do with if you spec summer or all-season tires?
You would get the staggered wheels if you opted for the summer performance tires as well as the BMW tire sealant kit.

The all-seasons come on squared setup.

My dealer ordered the 719M wheels for me after getting approval from BMW. Since my original build specified all-season tires, that's what they ordered for me. They installed them last week (squared setup instead of staggered, since they are all-season) and I drove them for a few days before deciding that I really hate the Pirelli Cinturato run-flat all season tires.

I went ahead and swapped them out for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires at my local America's Tire and they gave me trade-in value on the Pirellis at $50 per tire. I now have a square setup with non run-flats on a car that was spec'd at the factory for the staggered setup, which means I still have the 155 mph limiter instead of 130 mph and I get to do full tire rotations. I think that's a win-win.

My only question about the squared setup with non run-flats would be about tire pressures. The staggered setup specifies 38 lb. for front tires and 45 lb. for rear tires. Right now I have it at 38 lb. all around; should the rear tires be set at 45 lb. on a squared setup or is that really just for staggered?

If you are using the door jamb label, you are likely overinflating, as those are at GVWR, fully loaded with maximum capacity for passengers and weight. I believe the owner's manual may have specs for daily typical use. If that is what you are already doing, the 38psi all around should work well, as the pressure is proportionate to the aspect ratio and you now have a taller sidewall at the rear. The higher pressure is not needed to the same degree as a shorter sidewall which has to be more rigid to protect the rim, especially considering the same tire is carrying the weight of the front at 38psi. Adjustments for high loads or high sustained speeds are also described in the manual.

That makes sense, and that was my assumption; that the pressure is based on the aspect ratio of the tires. I'll check the manual and see what they recommend for 1-2 passenger load and empty trunk since that's how it's used a majority of the time. Probably can go down to 34-36 psi all around.
