M235i convertible mod help please!
Hello,
I am new here and I just bought a used M235i Convertible (F23) in Estoril Blue, fully loaded minus the driver assistance package with 21,700 miles and paid $27,999 (30k after tax and tags). I still have a warranty until end of July but I am doing research now into modding my car for a bit more power. Having an F23 instead of an F22 makes it a bit more unsure when looking at parts to buy as I have read that the F23 cannot fit certain parts that fit the F22. I am looking to buy BM3, a charge pipe and high flow cat and maybe an intercooler. My question is WHICH good quality high flow cat will fit the F23? Will all F22 high flow downpipes fit the F23? What about charge pipes, will some charge pipes for F22 not fit F23 and is so which good quality ones are available for the F23? Same deal for intercooler (i know I have read there are limited F23 IC options), which good quality IC will fit the F23? Also If I pay a shop to install the charge pipe, high flow cat and MAYBE the IC, will I have to deal with a constantly lit check engine light? Will bootmod3 cause check engine lights? Can I clear them with BM3? Thank you guys and I love my new M235i, ive always been a BMW fan since my dad bought his new 1998 328i back in the day, i fell in love with the BMW look, feel and feature and I was mesmerized with how many buttons his 328i had, it was like an airplane and i loved it! |

Very similar to what I went through when I bought mine. I can say what I’m running and have had no CEL issues. Mods are as follows: Evolution Raceworks charge pipe, Fabspeed sport cat, and full muffler delete from them. I also have a JB+ for install once it’s warmer. Biggest issue is the fitment of an intercooler, folks on the board have been great along with vendors regarding fitment questions.
I’m auto non x-drive for reference. |

Congrats on the new car! No issue with DP and CP on the F23. The only issue is the IC, as you are limited with space in front of the IC due to a brace. I have a Wagner EVO1 comp and that is about as big as you can go.
With a catted DP you may or may not get a CEL. I have a Wagner catted and it throws a CEL without the cat checks disabled. BM3 will let you configure the tune / map to disable cat checks so you will not get a CEL.

I have the same car and just about everything for the f22 will for for the f23 except some issues with the IC and anything to do with the trunk. Stuff will fit just be harder to install or just a bit off. I have VRSF Charge pipes/HD Intercooler, AEM Intake and AR Design catted DP and no CEL but I also have MHD with JB4 BEF.
If you have the M Muffler, I strongly suggest installing the DP and seeing how the car sounds before buying a muffler delete.
