I did get it to work every time on my 17 M240i now. The trick is to start the car within seconds after unlocking your door, before the "M performance" word on the instrument cluster pops up (if u have that coded).

However, if you didn't give your car enough time to shut off completely then the next time you restart your car, it will just bring you straight to the main menu (in my case the driver profile selection).

Basically, I only see the M animation screen when I start the car the next morning.

As mentioned by another member, I guess BMW cares more about giving u access to the iDrive system instead of showing u an animation screen.
Any way to turn off the warning disclaimer at startup?

I get office to show up in the main display and two others, but I don't get it when configuring my phone. I did check the box on my iPhone 6 to allow notifications under Bluetooth. I don't see emails or texts.
Sorry, pics are out of order.
Did you ever get the office integration to work. I can see my calendar now but no text or e-mails from iPhone.

BimmerCode results

Hi,

I just used the BimmerCode app to code my 2018 F22.

Things generally went smoothly, but I did encounter one minor problem.

When coding the head unit:
I disabled the Legal disclaimers;
I enabled video-in-motion;
I enabled the M Sport display.

Unfortunately, I lost the ability to assign the performance display (hp and torque gages) to a favorites key. (I used to have it assigned to 8, now it won’t let me.). I can still drill down to get them, but as you know it’s a nuisance.

So I put the display back to default, disabled v.i.m., but it still won’t let me assign the performance displays to a favorite key.

Any suggestions?

First, are you sure you're not down a level too far? Meaning, don't be inside the gauge screen, do it from the menu.

Second, can you set it to other things in that menu?

Bimmercode results: suggestion worked!

That did it! I set the cursor over the performance displays button, held down #8, and it worked perfectly. Now I have one-button access again. Thank you Nyorky: you da man!

Other OBD dongles? Like Scantool MX WiFi ?

Will Bimmercode work with other OBD dongles?

I have the Scantool MX Bluetooth, and it's been flawless with my Android tablet. Guessing Bimmercode won't work with the Bluetooth version on an iphone, but would it work with the Scantool MX WiFi ? (Actually had the WiFi, but my daughter appropriated it. She steals my tools faster than I can buy them for her.)

With all the dodgy VGate issues on this forum, I'm wondering if it would just be easier to buy a better OBD dongle? Yes, the Scantool is 3x the price of the VGate, but I hate dealing with crappy tools. Rather buy the good tool right from the start. And the Scantool works with lots of other apps also.

My Vgate works fine

I know it's not an answer to your question, but I've been using a Vgate to code for 6 months. Never an issue and I've done a lot of coding. For what it's worth....

What happened to change Blinkers (Indicators)?

I just noticed that the change indicator option to 5 blinks is gone. What happened to it? Did something happen to not allow it to be coded anymore?

Small observation with vgate. 1) you have to (unfortunately) disconnect connected drive and Bluetooth so it doesn't automatically try to connect to your phone. This causes conflicts with connectivity. 2) make sure to turn on slow connect on BimmerCode in order to have a good connection.

Once I did those things, I never had issues afterwards.

I've never seen an option for 5 blinks, just 3. I would welcome the ability to change it to 4 or 5 blinks.

The option was removed a while ago on a previous i-step... you can't code it anymore

Excuse my ignorance, but is i-step updated by the dealership? I still have the option on mine to choose 1-6 blinks.

Yes, if you have a car older than about mid 2016 and your dealership never updated your software then it will still work 1-6 I believe

@Pikachu

Why would BMW limit this feature on their newest i-Step?

Worked well for me tonight! Coded a few things:

M235 logo in the cluster off, windows up with key, 5 blinks on turn signal press, orange side markers off, M animation when the head unit boots up, no legal disclaimer.

Which legal disclaimer did you get rid off and under what section was that in?

In HeadUnit, Legal Disclaimers. This got rid of the one on start up. My car doesn't have a backup camera (yet) so i can't attest to that one.
