New to the forum . M235i tune options

I assume this has been beaten to death . But I'm looking at doing a dinan stage 2 tune . Any other good options ? That's a modest & reliable tune . If anyone is selling I'm interested in buying

Bootmod3. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than Dinan.

to do a stage 2 tune you should have upgraded downpipe, intercooler and charge pipes. The charge pipes on N55s are notorious for going out when modding due to the material they are made with.

Plug and play tunes include JB+/Dinan Sport Tuner/etc which are all just simply plug and play boost controllers can go up to +4 PSI.

JB4 is another plug and play w/ added functionality and logging capabilities (this used to be the most popular n55 mod)

BM3 is a flash tune with tons of "off the shelf" maps for a variety of different tuning applications. Cheaper than Dinan and is transferrable one time so you can sell if you want/.

I've been running a JB+ on my 228i for about 10k miles with absolutely no problems. Highly recommend it to start and I believe they still have the option where you can return it and put the complete cost of it towards the JB4 if you want to upgrade later on.

With these mods, Dinan would not be your best option.

I recommend Bootmod3 or Active Autowerke flash

I just don't want to lose reliability . That's why I was leaning for dinan stage 2

A pretty common opinion I've found on this forum is that Dinan lost quite a bit of reliability after Steve Dinan sold it. I am no expert on it and won't pretend to be but unless you really care about the name, the JB4 has had good reliability and I believe is notably cheaper.

Hey Mike,

I noticed they changed the N55 version JB4's harness to a braided insulation and there is talks of a new PCB.

Could you give us an idea what exactly was revised with the JB4 unit.

#Thanx

Please search this site, Google and Youtube. It's all out there and you should read it to make an informed decision regarding the positives and negatives.
