Changing F22 run flats to Regular Tires

I want to change my f22 original run on flats to regular tires, because i live in upstate NY and run on flats aren't good for all the potholes.
Is it ok to used regular tires or should i keep my run on flat?

Change them ASAP! I did on my E92 and my F22. I blew out 2 RFT's in 6 months and I was done with them. Too expensive, too harsh of a ride, and very prone to sidewall blowouts. You have BMW roadside assistance and if not, it cost next to nothing for roadside coverage through your insurance.

Potholes aren’t kind to regular tires either. But at least regular tires are almost always cheaper.

They do have more flex in the sidewall and are less prone to sidewall blowouts though. In 26 years of driving, I've never once blew out a sidewall on a non-RFT. In the past 3 years, I blew out 3 sidewalls on RFT's.

I'll be changing soon, i been driving regular tires and hit countless potholes never blew a tire but i hit one with my new Car with run flats and im surprise i didnt blew them.
I have 17' rims anything bigger is no good.
Using 205 50 R17.
I was afraid that it will affect my F22 if i dont use the Run On Flats.
My first Bimmer.

Have you considered using your current run flats (probably all-seasons) as winter tires and getting a second set of wheels and tires for the summer? High performance summer tires are super grippy and give a lot of driver feedback. That equates to more fun.

Or if the car is leased put the run flats away for lease turn in and get a nice all season like DWS06 to drive while you have the car.

Very good strategy and choice for Albany for 3 seasons!

That is a good narrow size for winter tires, but not for general good-weather, 3-season use. 225/45-17 at all four corners would be preferred and reasonably economical. Check the owner's manual...you will see that as the standard 17" size.

In what possible way are the OEM all seasons competent as winter tires...especially in Albany, New York?

I would consider another set of lightweight wheels (OZ UltraLeggera and the lightest set of non-runflat tires (Michelin Pilot Super @21lbs each). You'll shed 8 lbs of unsprung weight at each corner and net about (9WHP and 9WTQ) while improving the cars handling. When you trade, put the originals back on and use the other set on next BMW or sell.
