Mirror cap replacement

Can someone post the instructions for replacing the mirror caps on an M235i?

I just bought the M Performance caps from Sun Motors. Great price by the way. At their price I decided not to try the after market ones.

I believe you can just pop them right out with your hands firmly press against them.

The OEM ones are in $500-600 range, right? The aftermarket ones are like $100-150. Maybe I'm too cheap but I'd rather spend the money elsewhere since I can't tell the difference from two feet away when they are on the car.

Grab the corner on top, closest to the car and pull hard. It will pop right off. I found it hard to get a good grip on the top edge.

The M Performance mirror caps are a bear to put on. They are held in place by three screws. They require disassembly of the mirrors.

I gave up and had the dealer install them.

One added note: they do look great once installed.

I went with color matched from IND as another alternative. Those just pop on and look a million times better than the stock ones.

Do you have a link for these?
I'm interested in replacing the stock ones with ones of the same color as the car.

Do they just snap on or are screws needed as with the M ones?

They are factory caps that are painted. They snap on. No tools needed.

Just be careful to line them up and push them straight on. They don't clip in then rotate down to lock or anything like that. The first one I kind of fucked up but was lucky and got it off without breaking anything and did it properly the second time.

+1. it is very difficult to get your fingers under the edge b/c the gap is small. i had to use a plastic tool to pry up one of the corners and then work my way around until they popped off. once you have the stock caps removed, the CF knockoffs snap on very easily.

Why don't they give the option of colour coded mirrors on the M235i? I really don't like the silver ones that come as standard, they would be better off just painting them the same as the car and giving a carbon option from the factory

You literally just pull them off as everyone has mentioned.

The CF mirror caps are the only non-BMW part I bought as for $150 vs $500 for nearly identical looks, it was an easy choice. These are the full 1:1 replacement housings.

Looks great with the 18% ceramic tint. Really makes the grey mirrors seem like such an odd choice by BMW.

Bman6074, I'm thinking of getting my diffuser painted as well. I haven't checked pricing yet. What is a reasonable cost? Thanks.

I would think around 200 if you take it off yourself maybe 250 if they do it. It was part of my deal when I bought the car from the dealer. So I don't know the actual cost.
