Another Mass Shooting - 32 Christians killed in church

Hmmm...wonder why this didn't get global news coverage last week?

A group of radical Muslims murdered more than 30 Christians in Nigeria last week. The Muslim group set fire to the local church and then shot at the families as they tried to escape the blaze, killing 32 people.

According to the Global Terrorism Index, more than 60,000 innocent Christians have been murdered in Nigeria since 2001.

Previously, in late February, 52 people were killed, dozens injured and around 143 homes destroyed in attacks on several towns in the Maro district of the Kajuru Local Government Area.

That attack followed an attack on Sunday in the Barde village in Kajuru in which 17 Christians were tortured and murdered by a radical Islamic group and dozens of homes were burned.

In late February, there was another attack that resulted in the deaths of about 58 Christians and saw homes and a church burned. On Feb. 10, 10 Christian children were murdered in an attack in Ungwan as six others were killed in isolated attacks the day before.

Horrible things that occur in non western society is brush aside by the media because they are too busy hyping how horrible our society is and why it needs radical change.

If it wasn't on CNN or Tim Apple News, it didn't happen.

Because it's not the hip thing to be upset about right now. Christians and Jews aren't considered people to stand up for anymore...don't you notice the hate for both groups? I'm sad when any religious group is attacked for what they believe, as long as it isn't extremist, and that goes for any group. Always boggles my mind why people can't just live and let live.

Why it didn't make global news? Obviously news outlets are more concerned with terrorist attacks in 'civilized' nations. Murders are a very common occurrence in third world countries. What is happening in Nigeria started off more about acquiring land as the Fulani allowed their animals to migrate south which is a predominately Christian region.

A few years ago some peace loving members of ISIS pulled a bunch of Egyptain Copts off a bus and massacred them. This story got a blip in the news. Now we got Western EU countries talking about taking former ISIS fighters back in.

The same reason we haven't invaded Africa over genocide after genocide there.

The West does not care.

It's sad but true.

China cares though. They saw our lack of influence there and is dumping a ton of money and resources there.

That is a terrible mindset and it makes me sad.

I'm sure if you look at the local South African news channels the coverage of events in the west aren't covered as much as those in that occur locally as well.

Actually it was because we were bombing the banks ISIS had their money in.

I dropped a couple of them.

It's really sad, but somewhat true. They make a circus out of a shooting in a 1st world country but never bother to say anything about the horrific crimes that occur in the developing nations.

Look - I think we all know that Nigeria has a higher crime rate than the 1st world nations do, but first - this isn't some non-competitor tiny little country that no one has heard of before. Nigeria is one of the largest countries on earth, has an enormous population, and is a true emerging global finance and industry hub. Second, I don't expect the news to pick up every little item that occurs in a developing nation - but good grief - some of these stories are pretty notable yet you hear virtually nothing about them because they don't fit the narrative as you mentioned.
Lack of global awareness is an America epidemic. It didn't make the news because most Americans can't find Canada on a map let alone Nigeria. I'll bet you 7 out of 10 would tell you the residents of Kuala Lumpur live in grass huts.

1. CNN/MSNBC/ABC/ABC dont care about Christians.
2. We don't INVADE Africa bc we we don't care about Africans

That makes sense.

Are you making a point?

We fought a war to stop genocide in the Balkans but not Africa, why?

Go into Africa. Then libs call us racist for going into Africa. We are looked at as colonizers. Dont go into Africa and we are racist for not doing anything to help.

Well - to be fair, it is only half the distance away from America that NZ is. So by your logic, the NZ issue shouldn't get any coverage either.

Yet here we are.....
I don't think it's a distance thing. I think it's an African thing. Africa in general just isn't on our radar.

I'm always amazed when I go to mainland China, just how much Africa is in the news.

Yeah - Of course - I might have a bit of personal vested interest in the continent...
Yes indeed!

You're right. I absolutely did.

And we had a bunch of UN/NATO peacekeepers on the ground in the Balkans.

The only maybe example you could use to disprove my point would be Task Force Ranger in Somalia.

So again, for the third time, why have we cared so much about it in other places but barely have lifted a finger in Africa?

Do remember we just recently even made a geographic combatant command in reference to Africa.
