P00BC and P0171 Help
Hey guys,
To preface, just got car inspected and got the air filter replaced. 105k miles on Gen 1B58. During the week after, I got a CEL. Thought it was from my downpipe, turns out I got 2 codes P00BC P0171 To note, I do idle my car more than I should and have replaced the PCV 20k miles ago. Could these codes be related to the air filter replacement? Could it be just a dirty MAF? I know they checked the 02 sensors and MAF during inspection to see if they need replacement. Maybe they didn’t go back on correctly? Just looking for any guidance on stuff I can do at home before I take it in. Appreciate it, thank you. |

The codes do suggest an issue with airflow.. The MAF doesn't need to be touched for air filter swaps. You could check the MAF plug to ensure it is secure. It's closest to the air box.
Check that the air box cover is clipped in securely, there's 3 or 4 clips along the perimeter. The two halves of the air filter snap closed tightly, you shouldn't need any tool to close them. Last edited by freakystyly; 09-18-2024 at 08:21 AM.. |

Just an FYI for future people, problem solved.
PVC had a tear. Easy fix. Replaced the MAF as well, also easy fix. Zero codes at all now. Cars idle is fine, boost feels strong, and also my car doesn’t feel like it’s hemorrhaging gas. |
