M235 wheel alternative
I'm starting this thread in hopes of collecting real wheel alternatives for the M235.
Wheels that fit correctly with the correct offset maybe even some replica wheels of all-time favorites. Wheel vendors let us know what you're coming up with were all itching for something better than what they're giving us.

I have a call in to Gill at Tire Rack, he's active on the 1-series wheel forum. Will ask him to post something similar to the winter wheel thread he has over there with a list of options that will definitely work for us.

We need some staggered wheel options...the M235i is crying out for some 9"-10" wide rears. The stock 8" just aren't wide enough IMHO.

Hey All,
I know that anyone with an M235 in Northern California can stop by APEX Race Parts for a test fitment. They have wheels designed specifically for the 1 Series, among many others, and the M235 doesn't seem very different. They will bolt up various wheel fitments to determine the best fit down to the millimeter. You just have to call them to make an appointment. |

Putting on oversize rims and tires on my 135i was the worst mod I have ever done. VMR rims and Yoko AD08 tires... The rear was a battle to get them from not rubbing and even after a couple fender rolls it still had issues. Finally after dealing with this BS we put OEM Michelin SS on the car and called it a day..To this day I HATE when a car rubs any car...the worst experience I ever had modding. But luckily I learn from my mistakes and will NEVER repeat them......Tread lightly my friends and only drink Dos Equis and put on tire/rim combos that do not rub it's just not worth the headaches...

I literally can't stand to look at the stock rims anymore, particularly because I opted for the AS tires (all 4 of which are 225!!), as I expected to buy a set of 19's shortly after taking delivery of the car.
So if you guys could keep me posted on your progress, it would be much appreciated!

I think I'll need to wait on the funds building up before I take the jump with wheels, 19s and a full set of tyres isn't cheap...

I really like the mineral gray. But I would like to see the wheels in bright silver rather than this ferric Grey before changing them out.
I'm looking into plasti dip I see that they've come out with a new aluminum metallic which is pretty awesome. I can't find the link right now but that might be an option and probably would make the wheels look larger.

I'm with you on the 19in Stock wheels in bright Silver.
But until then and as a cheap alternative, I hope someone tries this Plasti Dip route. If I get the car this summer, I will try it and see. If it looks good enough I may just have them repainted. PhotoShop anyone??? Stock wheels in Bright Silver. And then For dmBoones 19in :-)
