Installed the M Performance Steering wheel, but for some reason it doesn't turn on

Went through the installation steps twice and everything seems to be done fine and connected properly, assuming faulty control module?

I assume I would have to take the bumper off to install the back half, but unlike a nut and bolt it would be a one time thing.

They come in many lengths depending on the thickness of the materials to be fastened, but obviously this needs to be measured and planned in advance.

It is just a thought, probably not going to act on it anytime soon. Too many other hobbies in need of funds lol.

Riv nuts are multiple use. It essentially installs a thread on a body panel.

Ah Gotcha, that might work. Only thing came to my mind will be there is a lips on the surface. So you might have a tiny space inbetween lips and bumper. Could throw off fitment on some lips.

Enamel coated my wheels and brake calipers.

Interestingly, I noticed my Oxide gray wheels have “Ferrite Gray” and “Oxide Gray” both stamped on them.

$549 Mouse Chew!!!

Took the car out to the gym this morning (it had not been driven since last Wednesday) and the key FOB was not recognized. Ok just an old battery, I fix that when I get home. Held the key up to the steering column and all was well. Driving down the road I get a TPMS failure followed by a check engine light. This is not good.

Call the dealer and they said bring it in. 2 hours later the tech informed me ISTA had said open circuit on the NVLD. Further trouble shooting led to the right rear wheel well where there was serious evidence of rodent activity and bare wires!

One wire repair kit and a couple of hours labor to install it and I she is good as new. Now to get that little bugger!!

Must say, with everything else going up in price, $40 down from $200 on these is righteous.

Will be posting an installation video on my Youtube channel Wednesday (6/28) 6pm CST for actual footage of the lighting.
Here is the link for the sequential mirror signal install!

The wife and I went to a Porsche-themed car show at a local autoplex/car condo facility. The turn out was incredible. My wife really really wants to get a Porsche now....

A friend went in to pick up his new 911 GTS, and his wife liked a Cayenne so much after a test drive that he bought her that, too. It happens.

Not a surprise. Porsche certainly knows what they are doing. Shopping for a used 911 is incredibly competitive though for a nice spec in good shape. Holy moly.

Yeah, I could never gin-up the willingness to spend that much. Plus, the maintenance costs make our cars looks fairly inexpensive to maintain. The oil changes on his Cayman S run $350 at an independent.

As I'm fairly far up in years now, I took a hard look at ordering a new Macan GTS for the convenience of getting in and out of it. Even being willing to spend for it, I dropped the idea when I looked at the pounds per RWHP. By that measure, my car is superior to the P-car, and that matters to me when I'm going around the rolling chicanes that are common on crowded interstates.

I hear you but if someone can get into a 911 chances are they will get what they paid for it or lots more in the future. Meanwhile my car continues to depreciate and I don't drive it that much (4k to 5k miles annually). We really like the 911's from the early 80's into the mid 90's, and it would be cool to have something that's more of an analog driving experience, and we frequent classic car shows. But, I also love the power and tech my car has so I'm conflicted. I should figure out how to have both.

Yes, I too suffer from occasional Porsche envy. Then I try to build one online. The base price is not entirely crazy, but when you start adding necessities like a steering wheel or seats it becomes totally insane very quickly.
Maybe look at another VW product, like an Audi or a Bentley.

Purely from a financial perspective I should have bought one instead of my M240i. A 997 Carrera 4s was on the top of my list (next to the M240i) and I could have gotten a really nice one for $35K. Those same cars are hard to touch now for less than $55K, and you better be ready to pull the trigger as soon as one is available.

changed the Jurid brake pads for akebono ceramics. didn't use any grease, no noise. the initial bite is stronger (summer time here in CT so it's warm), modulation seems nice.

i haven't tested max capability yet, but i never did with my last set so i don't have a baseline. all in all, i am happy with the swap so far. looking forward to cleaner wheels.

got 50k miles out of the Jurid, so you know how easy i am on my car and brakes..

987.2 Cayman. Period. Cheap (for a Porsche), relatively reliable, and easy to work on. I hardly ever drive my M235 now after getting a Cayman back in October. Although faster, the M235 feels like a wet noodle in comparison and my M235 is running a square 245/35R18 MP4S setup, LSD, Bilstein Damptronics in the rear, and Dinan springs in the front.

The naturally aspirated power of the Porsche flat 6 also made me realize just how artificial the power delivery feels in a late model turbo BMW. Yes, it makes great power and torque, but feels quite disconnected. It's something I really didn't notice until hustling the Cayman after a few months. I guess after owning turbo cars since 2012, I forgot how a naturally aspirated performance engine feels?

My biggest gripe with the Cayman (mine's a 2.9L 265hp base model) is the lack of power below 4500rpms and the long 6MT gearing. You must chase the 7400rpm redline in every gear to make this car to get max acceleration. Even short shifting at 6000rpms doesn't feel overly spectacular. However, going full boil is an amazing experience even if I know I'm slower than the M235.

Watch out for bore scoring on those 3.4 and 3.8 997 motors. Even the 997.2 cars can suffer from it. The 997.1 cars also have the IMS bearing

Porsche engines, though great performers, can have some massively expensive issues.

I was aiming for a 997.2 due to the lesser risk of bore scoring and they have direct injection.

If I didn't need 4 seats I would look at a Cayman but very good feedback on the Cayman which I appreciate. Not that the 911 rear seats provide a lot of room but I know I could make it work with my kiddos for the next 4 to 5 years.

I set my budget to $65K (same as the new M2) or less but that probably won't be enough right now for getting something that would feel comparable or an improvement over my current car with the specs that I want.

I'd love a p-car but even if I could stomach the purchase price I really don't think I want to pay to play for anything else on them!

It makes sense that they're a better sports car. They were/are often magnitudes more expensive new and are more purpose built for the task.

That said, the manual 228 is hardly perfect but now that I've got a Cooper S that I essentially stole, it's easier to just dump a couple grand into modifying the 2er and living with it.

For the record, my 228 cost roughly $16k used and has cost about a grand a year to maintain the past 3 years I've owned it. It's easy to imagine just about any Porsche costing way, way more than that. And I recognize I'm coming at the problem as a used-car purchaser.
