BMW M235i Will Beat 1M Coupe Around Nurburgring and Have Limited Slip Differential
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW M235i Will Beat 1M Coupe Around Nurburgring and Have Limited Slip Differential The upcoming M235i Coupe will beat the 1M Coupe around the Nurburgring, so says Klaus Froehlich, Senior Vice President Brand and Product Strategies at BMW. In speaking to Autoexpress, he states that: "I have just signed off the M235i’s M Sport performance kit, which will include a proper limited slip differential. I’m just working out whether to make this an option on all models. The M235i is as close a spiritual successor to the 2002ti that we've had. My initial benchmark was that it will be faster than the BMW 1M Coupe around the Nurburgring, which it is. The 4 Series body is stiffer than the 3 Series’, and the 2 Series is the same over the 1 Series. The handling of the 1M was too snappy, but the 2 Series has a longer wheelbase and the proportions are better. However, we did take the 18-inch wheels and special Michelin tyres from the 1M for the M235i, as they offer better performance than the 19-inch versions." For reference, the 1M Coupe was timed around the Nurburgring at 8:15 by Sportauto. Here's some comparisons for that time. |

This is great to hear! I'm guessing mid 40's?
Maybe when this car is available 1Ms will be in a decent price range. |

Awesome news! Really considering this car as my next over the new 4. Can't wait to see the production version and what it comes with. Alas, the M2 as well.

I wonder if we'll get a 1M and M2 then. The previous 1M was about as fast on a track as the E92 M3 despite being a manual.
That would put a lot of pressure for BMW to either make the F8x M insanely fast or walk the line between making the 1M/M2 slower than their bigger brothers, but faster than the M sport versions. |

The M235i and M2 will hands down be the *THE* enthusiast's cars of choice in the BMW lineup.

Tough to say because the 435i comes with optional: power kit, exhaust, suspension, brakes, and LSD but there will still be an M4. I can imagine a M235i being sold alongside a limited edition M2 (like the 1M Coupe was) or something to justify a 2-series model that rivals 435i base price money.
That being said, I'm anxiously awaiting the M235i. When my lease ends, I'll likely end up in a F30 335i or F22 M235i. |
