My M240i is throwing code 180001 in DME when reading with code reader. I have your catted downpipe which should not be throwing a code at all! I think you are confused and think I have a catless one and am tuned to suppress the code when that is not the case. Catted downpipe. Stock Tune. I have cleared the code over and over and it comes back. The install is fine. No CEL light on the dash is on. Smell has steadily increased since installing earlier this year. Probably don't even have 1,000 miles on the cat. Leading me to suspect CAT failure/something wrong with the downpipe. I will try calling again tomorrow during office hours to see what we can do. Thanks for your response. In regard to an exchange.. i'm not sure about that. Last time I looked on your site I saw that it was back ordered? If there's something wrong with the cat then I think I would like to send it back and be refunded and see what you guys think the cause of the failure was before I have you send me another one. I'm already out $300 installing and taking it off and will have to spend another 150 putting the new one back on. Wasn't supposed to have any of these problems.

Update for those holding off on their purchase due to my situation: Just got off the phone with Andrew at AA. He's been really helpful. They are offering to send me a new one and have a shop relatively close by that I can drive to to have the faulty cat removed and swapped with a new one without having to pay for removal and install prices again so that made me happy (saves $300) He assured me that this is a very rare failure and they have had many different cars running the dp without issue. Andrew said they would send it out soon and update me when it gets to the shop so I'll keep the thread updated as well.
He also mentioned that they would send the cat back to the cat manufacturer to try to find out what happened and why it failed so I'll let you guys know if I get any news on that as well.

Update: In my opinion the smell has increased even more and is noticeable at all times, even when car is warm. It's pretty obnoxious. The CEL has also come on. Not that that changes much, still waiting on the replacement to come but just noting. But I guess this also means no need to worry about having codes without the light being on as I got it eventually.
I'm not sure if the cat has failed further, and is why I have more smell and the CEL is on now, or if the CEL would have been delayed either way because I have driven < 1,000 since installing the downpipe.

I would never buy an item, or not buy an item for one persons issue. (ie I have a friend that had a lemon Honda, I'll keep buying all day long lol)
I've had my AA Catted downpipe for almost a year. Flawless. I rec to everyone. They were also great to answer questions prior to buying and answered phone all 3 times I called. Never a CEL/Code. 2 friends have installed and love theirs. |

Almost a month and no update!
Just interesting to meet the paradigm that most people come to the internet to complain, but rarely do they follow up or come online to relate positive experiences. Disclaimer is my post really isn't directed at the content above, only on the facts of which I've posted. That said, it would be good to know how this has been resolved, if at all, with satisfaction or not. Because it appears the vendor is going above and beyond, ice never known one to set up and local shop to provide installation support for their product at their cost. Just sayin... So I hope it has all worked out, mainly because the AA DP is on my list |

Hello. Sorry for no update. I ended up waiting a few days to double check for leaks before giving them the go ahead to ship the new downpipe. They sent it out to a local shop and are covering the install costs. I did miss a few calls from him so there was a little bit of delay added on my end. I will have an appt with the shop soon. Andrew at Active has been very helpful throughout everything.

I did end up getting the new downpipe in. Have been driving on it for a bit and haven't had any issues with smell or codes! Hope it stays that way, and I think it will as there are so many people who haven't had any issues. I have replied to a few people in this thread and some who privately messaged me about the issue I had and I will say again what I said to them: The original DP was purchased from XPH and Mike was really helpful in the ordering process and getting me in touch with Active when I had the code. Andrew at Active was also extremely helpful in talking to me on the phone and sending out a new downpipe and covering the cost to switch it out a shop relatively close by. If you're thinking about going for the downpipe, just do it!

The current wait time after Black Friday is 5-10 business days, they are still working on hundreds of last month's orders (the custom-built ones like the equal length midpipes for the S55)
