I went through the same thing, since I have a 2018.

I ordered the 4 piece set (left/right door handles, console, center dash) from sunmotorsbmwparts on eBay. They have the best price (and Brian is very responsive), and the 4 piece set they sent fit my 2018 M240ix. His photo on eBay shows the old dashboard, but he changed his eBay listing to reflect that it's a 4 piece set.

If you scroll up on this page, you'll see that CP11 has the new dash with the CF kit.

Even the photos you'll find on BMW's site show the old dash, which was a 5 piece set. Wherever you buy the set, confirm that it's 4 pieces and will fit the 2-series LCI dashboard.

It's confusing, I know.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'll just have to reach out to which ever seller I'd work with. I prefer having dry carbon for the large middle dash piece, not a huge fan of alcantara especially having 3 dogs, it just attracts dust and fur. Biggest reason I even want the carbon fiber is to cut down on the reflections from the trim. My aluminum hex trim in my 335 is too right and on a bright day reflects on to the windows and windshield.

I am really enjoying the new carbon fiber trim. It adds a special touch to a already amazing interior. It will be complete soon enough.

Am I the only one who equates carbon fiber trim with a vinyl roof?
Or am I the only one old enough to remember vinyl roofs?

I know the LCI dash pieces are completely different shapes, but aren't their still 5 pieces? 2 door handles, center console, left driver's vent, and main dash piece?

Scadam Shouldn't there be 6 pieces? Also a piece for the right vent since that is now separate from the center dash piece?

Yes you are correct! Two vents, one on each side, two door handle trim pieces, center trim above radio and console trim next to shifter.

I was hoping the LCI carbon fiber/alcantara set would include six pieces, but the set I received from BMW included only four. The right and left vents are not replaced.

I thought this would look unfinished but after I installed it, it looked just fine.

Tyresian- you may be aware already, but there is an M2 LCI carbon fiber kit available in the Members Classified section for $500. The large middle piece is CF and not Alcantara.

I too prefer the CF.

This is incorrect. 2018 LCI dash kit does not include the far left and right AC vent trim.

The pre-LCI dash had the main, large Alcantara dash piece as part of the far right AC vent trim. They included the far left AC vent trim to match, hence the 5-piece kit.

Essentially, for LCI, they chose to do one large Alcantara/carbon piece for the center AC vents and did not include the outside vents. This is opposite of pre-LCI where they did outsides, but not center.

Scadam Where did you find the dry carbon wheel trim? I could only find glossy carbon when I was doing my trim.

CP911 (and others with the LCI CF interior kit), is the center vent (dash) alcantara+CF one piece or two? Would it be possible to apply just the alcantara part and preserve (in my case) the estoril blue band underneath, or is this a one-or-the-other replacement?

I ordered my M240i with an estoril blue exterior and oyster interior (to brighten things up a bit) but the iDrive controller area and the door handles seem a bit much in aluminum...debating on the center vents though as the blue band seems attractive enough.

Thanks!

I don't believe the CF strip underneath separates from the alcantara center section. I didn't try to mess with it, but almost certain they are glued/bonded together. Maybe someone else can confirm 100% for you. I tossed my stock trim pieces in the recycling bin, so unfortunately I can't even experiment with the old one.

CP911 Thanks much- I think I'll do the same (the recycle bin sky hook move). I've seen a few videos with people installing the 2017 trim...in your experience was the 2018 trim just as straight-forward?

I have the auto, so won't require the Hulk smash pull you performed on your shifter.

Appreciate the photos!

Hey no prob! I have not installed on a pre-LCI m240i/m235i. It should be just as straightforward though. Do yourself a favor and buy some plastic trim removal tools off eBay. This is the one I went with for just a few bucks.

Guys, just as future reference for anyone looking for the LCI interior trim (part #: 51952454349) which fits the 2018 M240i, I uploaded a photo.

It consists of four parts:
1. center vent trim
2. iDrive trim
3. 2x Door handles

*The carbon fiber under the alcantara (the piece on the far right) is fused/glued onto the alcantara portion, so if you wanted to use other colored trim (the estoril blue part, for instance) you won't be able to.

having trouble installing trim over climate vents

I have the m240i LCI trim kit and having trouble installing the trim that goes on the climate vent. I do not wanna break any of the clips and was wondering if theres a better way of doing it.

I think this is the best DIY tutorial we have around here:

https://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=974744

I don't recall having to do anything special with the vent trim. I think the climate vents just pivot out of the surrounding trim based on the orientation of the plastic clips holding it in place.
