M235i mud flaps!

Being in Canada and owning a xdrive means fun in the snow. However as much as mud flaps might look goofy I can't bare tossing rocks up at my mint paint all winter. Has anyone figured out a mud flap that fits our cars? Seems everywhere I turn is a dead end.

Maybe send Rally Armor an e-mail and see if they might be able to come up with something?

Yeah, I would love to see some pics as well. At least a description of what didn't fit as well as you liked. Did you do any mods to the mudflaps to get them to fit better? Does your 228i have the M sport package?

I have a 2018 230i M Sport getting built and I want to get some mudflaps on it to keep the sand blasting to a minimum up here in New England. Lots of threads saying nothing is available so this is intriguing.

Thanks in advance,

Yesterday I mounted Mud flaps on my 2018 230i with M package.
Only on the front wheels but I think that’s the most important.
I ordered the ones for the 1 series with this part number 82162211820.
The fitment is in my opinion very good, the holes is on the same places and it follows the fender and side skirt as I hoped.
It also comes with tape on the side so it will not rub the paint. I will remove it in the summer but here in Norway with much snow, gravel and salt on the roads this is perfect for the winter

I just did my own "research" via pictures online of f20 and f21. The figment is great and they use the factory holes and hardware is included. They've been installed for a few weeks now and the cyclone snow storm has been putting them to the test without any problems! I'll upload some pictures soon.

I'm non m-sport btw for those asking

Those are the same part numbers as the ones I used and they do come with all 4. Also confirmed today that they do fit the "m-sport" cars.

My experience was a little different. I have a 2018 MSport 230i and ordered a set of mudflaps from Taotaostore for $42.96. They listed them as being 82162211820 and 82162211821. Molded into the parts were the numbers 2211825 and 2211823. They did not have any BMW markings, nor any spots that looked like a logo had been removed from the mold as seen occasionally on other OEM parts. There were no adhesive strips attached to the mud flaps as is common on other BMW mudflaps. They took a lot of work to get them to fit. The front ones required removal of a lot of material on the section that abuts the inner fender lining. The mudflaps were shaped to contour linings that were hollow compared to my linings. The outside contours matched up well. The rears required a lot of reforming with heat and form shaping tools and drilling new holes in the mudflaps to get them to mount. I also had to drill one hole up from the bottom into the plastic rear pan on the car to locate a j hook. The rears also need to have the contour that mates with the outer face of the fender behind the wheel well reshaped. The mudflaps were expecting there to be a mild body line where I don't have one. Maybe the seller sent the wrong ones. The parts did not come with a packing list. They also were not very well packaged. They were crammed into a bubble envelope with the fronts and rears "nested" leading to some bending of the parts during their long trip on a slow boat from China.

All in all, its tough to recommend this as the way to go if you want mudflaps on your 230i with MSport.

I found a website (etkbmw) that shows that the 82162211820 kit is made up of the 821662211823 (front left) and 821662211824 (front right) fronts and that the 821662211821 is made up of the 821662211825 (rear left) and 821662211826 (rear right) mud flaps so I don't think I got sent the wrong parts.

It is a mystery!

I would be very wary about installing any mud flap that wraps around onto the body work. I've seen (and experienced) many times where the constant rubbing between the mud flap and the body work causing the paint to get completely worn down to metal and rust forming. I'd suggest to get those generic straight down flaps instead if you must have them. They're generally not that eye catching and wont destroy your paint.

I will try to post some pics this weekend (if I can figure out how). They will look just like the others shown except I should be able to show the mods that I had to make to get fitment.
I have been putting the fancy molded BMW mudflaps on BMW cars for 23 years and have never had problems with paint wearing off under the flaps. I take my flaps off every time I detail the car so that I can clean every square millimeter of the paint and detail the flaps too. That keeps it looking crisp. They tend to fill up with sand (they have hollow voids in the molding) with drain holes, but the drains get plugged up. So taking them off helps clear them out. In this new modern era the rocker panels and rear bumper behind the wheels are all plastic so rusting is not an issue. I have never had scratches under the flaps that didn't clear up with a little bit of the same compound that I clean the rest of the car with.

YMMV

Second attempt at getting the pictures posted

Let me try that again. This is supposed to be front and rear installed mudflaps. I selected attachments and uploaded last time, and they didn't show up. Huh.
