What issues do I need to look out for? It's a 2016, 55,000 miles on it. Am I going to need an extended warranty?

Thanks ahead of time for your response!

The most common fail points are the stock plastic charge pipe (cracks near the top) and the plastic upper coolant hose line (same issue).

New aftermarket metal CP is cheap and easy to replace but as for the coolant line, I only know of OEM replacements but since they're so cheap I keep a spare line in the trunk (as well as coolant).

Good luck.

The oil filter housing gasket likes to leak around that mileage too.

Ha! I just had to replace the charge pipe on my 135. Why would they ever use plastic in those?

There are a few post asking the same question so it's worth searching.

Have a BMW dealer tech review the car. Suspension: the big thrust bearing on the front can go below 50K miles depending. Look to see if the seats have been spot repaired around the bolsters.

M235 is a great car. Shop for the right car.

usual N55 stuff OFHG, Water Pump. Leaking oil pan gasket is likely. Nothing big (by BMW standards).

I have a 2013 X5 with the N55 and have addressed all the above. It has 107k miles

(living with the oil pan gasket)

I remember reading this last week and guess what broke 500mi away from home on a canyon road with no service in 40F weather at night? The coolant hose line. It often breaks at a pretty unsalvageable point (every youtube video broke at the same point). I tried using tape but that didn't work.

Anyway, i always notice the front left tire is always WARMER than the rest of the tires, maybe that side is just subject to more heat and wear. Anyway, the local bmw had the part in stock so i was out of a car for <24hrs

And it's almost always the left side of the car (from the drivers perspective).

Ouch, sorry to hear that.

Yeah I've noticed the temp difference as well, I just attributed that to that side of the engine being slightly warmer but I'm not sure.

I just bought my 2015 M235i 6 speed manual and I'm really enjoying it. Ordered the charge pipe and intercooler today and looking forward to putting a tune on it. Came from a 2011 550i with the N63 so versus that, this car should be much more reliable Go for it!
