2017 M240i: What are the best Hp and torque mods?

I’m pretty new to the site. I’m not a mechanic. I’m not track or street racer. I don’t have endless amount of money. But, I do have a 2017 M240i and want to get as much Hp and torque out of the B58 engine as I can. To this point all of the mods have been Dinan products in order to keep the factory warranty in place.

In 2017:
> Stage 1 Tune
> Free Flow Exhaust w/ Black Tips
Later this month:
> Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake
> High Flow Mid-pipe
Future cosmetic adds:
> Wheel/Tire package when I burn through these tires.
> Rear Carbon Fiber Spoiler.

According to the Dinan specs the Hp should be between 415-432 and the Torque should be between 473-498. Not too bad.

What other bolt on parts can be added to truly make this my Ultimate Driving Machine?

I'd say you might want to do the Dinan springs to stiffen up the suspension a little bit.

Not sure if there are any sway bars or other things to stiffen up the chassis but those are the next steps I'd go to.

Since you already have the Stage 1 I'd just wait for Dinan to issue Stage 2 before I did any more power mods.

You could also get the M LSD, it would make a big difference in putting all that power down to the ground. I plan on getting it eventually.

I think those numbers are inflated. What Dinan lists as HP/TQ measurements for their bolt-on parts and real world application are two totally different things. I'm sure if you were to dyno your car, you will not have 415-432 HP.

As for mods, get a downpipe, bigger 6" or 7" FMIC, and replace the charge pipe while you're at it. I know the newer charge pipes aren't as prone to busting like the 28i/35i models, but it's a preventive measure.

Garage List
2017 BMW M240i  [0.00]
2002 MINI Cooper S  [0.00]
2015 BMW X1  [0.00]
OP has a M240i - there is only one upgrade for the chargecooler and it involved changing the heat exchanger for the chargecooler. With the Dinan stage one he is probably close to or over 400 @ the crank.

So you're saying a Dinan S1 and exhaust is bumping him 65+ hp

Not exactly.

Its been well documented that the M240i has more HP than BMW's advertised 335.
Its actually closer to 365-370.

Add the Dinan Stage 1 on top of that is where you get 400+ from.

Ahh got it! I can't believe they're under rating the motor that much.

The 6MT M240 rated a 335hp and 369tq makes around 330whp and 340wtq to the wheels stock on the Dynojet. Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that means the motor is making around 390hp and 400tq at the flywheel.

Yes, the BMW I6 turbo motors a grossly underrated.

Not sure if this is shorthand or an actual misunderstanding, but that does not happen. If BMWNA denies a warranty claim based on being related to a Dinan mod, Dinan (if so persuaded) will then cover the repair under their own warranty. Your claim is then against Dinan, not BMWNA.

I feel like this car needs more suspension than power. Especially in Comfort or Eco mode where the suspension feels sloppy under hard acceleration.
