I hate the following:

1. The HiFi sound system is the worst I have ever heard in any German car.
2. Apple CarPlay is wireless as opposed to utilizing USB like in VW’s
3. The stereo compresses everything even further and there is no 3.5mm Aux input to circumvent that either
4. door storage areas are not carpeted
5. Zooming in and out in the iDrive map is reversed now.
6. The volume controls on the steering wheel are on the right and there are no forward and backward skip track buttons

None of my BMWs have needed two pulls to open the door.

I'm actually curious about why yours do?

If the car has the option “Lock after start driving” set and you come to a stop with the doors still locked, to open the door a double pull will be needed. The first pull is to unlock the deadlock, the second to open the door. This has been the case for all the BMWs I have owned since 2000.

I hate that the START button is totally blocked from view. Once I blindly went to deactivate the adjacent AUTO-STOP function, and inadvertently shut off the motor completely while creeping along in traffic. Had to come to a full stop, shift to PARK, and then restart the car. The car's behind me weren't too happy, especially the guy behind me that nearly plowed my rear end.

That's why I've never noticed, I don't have option set.

I am comparing an f10 LCI to the M235 steering. I believe BMW made some changes in the steering at the LCI in both the f10 and f30. In the f10, different versions have different tire/size/suspension calibrations so its hard(er) to generalize.

But agreed, early f30 steering from my experience was rather poor in the feel department.

Being a rather large person, including a tall torso, I am forced to shop cars that I actually fit in. For BMW that means the 2/3/5 series. The X3/5 also fit but I don't like sitting up high due to the head-toss effect. I don't care about driving a fancier car, just one that fits, so a 2/5 comparison is valid.

I personally would not pay for a car that gets below 30 mpg - it is the 21st century already and there is no excuse for gas guzzlers IMO.

Cheers.

M235i / M240i steering feel and precision has quite a range depending on comfort vs sport setting, summer vs all-season tyres, runflat vs conventional tyres and tyre pressure. Generally the dealer loaners are the worst combination (all-season runflats, steering and suspension defaulted to comfort and tyre pressure for a comfortable ride). It is very precise with reasonable feel for an electrically assisted system, when properly configured.

Makes sense.

How is the "ride" in the 2? Is it at all "bouncy?" I prefer a smaller car but need the softer ride for my neck arthritis. BMW in the past has made cars with great handling and softer ride - something difficult to usually get in most cars that are not French.

My wife used to complain about my MB C Class with a sport suspension. That did not have any adjustments. In this car, she isn't happy when I select Sport, but when I choose Comfort, whatever bounces that made her uncomfortable no longer is a problem. I don't think even Sport is bouncy, but if she likes Comfort, that is a significant recommendation. This requires that you have the MAdaptive suspension, and due to the generally poor lunar landscape roads here in Moonchigan, I am running 17" wheels/tires (which has other benefits as well).

^ For number 6, I think there are. Press the scroll wheel (near the volume buttons) and you can "scroll up" and press for next, or "scroll down" and press for back. I use it for Soundcloud and Youtube.

My E90 and E92 were this way, once to unlock, the second to open. The doors autolocked in motion.

Question - The Mirrors don't fold out when you start driving?
The Mirrors don't tilt down in reverse
The Sunroof cover doesn't open automatically when you crack the moonroof.

My E92 had all of these...

The mirrors should fold back out once you're above 25 mph.

The passenger side mirror should tilt down in reverse if you've pushed the mirror button on the driver's side door arm rest.

All of this should be covered in the owners manual and IDrive.

Don't know about the sunroof cover as my car doesn't have one.

For every amazing post you make, you have a lot of snarky ones like this.
But you're right, I should read the manual. I'll say I never had to do it on my E90/E92 they were both pretty intuitive.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but most of the questions you've asked in the past week could have been addressed with very basic searches on this site or Google.

It's more fun to talk with people, more effective to talk with people who have common interests, and my time here tells me that most of the conversation isn't about efficiently communicating information what could be had by merely reading a multi-hundred page manual from cover to cover.

I apologize for not finding something like the above in search.

On the sunroof cover:
It opens with the sunroof when it slides back. That is purely mechanical.
However, it does not open when you tilt the sunroof, because it has a row of vents at the front. In other words, it is designed to stay in place when you tilt the sunroof, so that you get only air and no sun, unless you specifically want sun.
On the mirror not tilting:
That is because the mirror adjustment toggle must be toggled to the left to enable this function.
As others have noted, all of this is in the manual.
What does annoy me is that the mirror fold and mirror toggle buttons are not marked, as they are in higher-numbered cars. That is a very silly savings move.

I hate how easily the trunk gutters get clogged by whirlybirds and/or leaves. I feel like I have to clean them a couple times a month to let the water drain properly. I'm going to have to rig some sort of mesh screen to prevent this.
